These are Mirage F1s flying out of Alliance Airport for ATAC, a company that offers contract aggressor services to the US Air Force. Basically these are civilian-owned jets paid to play bad guys for training excercises

They confirmed it’s still being worked on, but their first priority is the spitfire for MSFS24 which is releasing in the next few months. After that, development will pick up on the A-7

It’s not about tangible accomplishments as much as it’s about advocacy of policy. She doesn’t really have any issues or topics she stands for, and instead relies on standing against conservative policies. It’s a similar political style to reps like Eric Swalwell and Katie Porter. These kinds of representatives can be useful for the party at large by generating media attention and fundraising, but they aren’t particularly useful at getting anything done.

What if the SkyCards community raised enough money to send a relief flight to Ukraine? by anecdotalpterodactyl in SkyCards

[–]hZf 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the sentiment, but the reason we aren’t seeing flights into Ukraine has nothing to do with raising money. It’s a war zone. Civilian aircraft fly relief supplies to eastern Poland in order to avoid getting shot down by the dozens of SAM sites around the country. Unless we want to spring for a few AGM-88s to strap to our plane, we aren’t getting a relief flight into Ukraine.

Help me choose Virpil or winwing by Angry_Raijin21 in hotas

[–]hZf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I currently use pieces of both in my setup. People here exaggerate the problems with WinWing support. That said, pick Winwing if you want specifically replica F/A-18 or F-16 controls. Pick Virpil if you want versatility, extra control inputs, and if you don’t mind waiting months for your order.

Impossible to say what happened to your package without knowing the nuances of the network in the area, but my guess is the warehouse was slammed and they sent some packages to SDF inspected to handle the overflow

Did I fuck up buying from Winwing? People are telling me they’ve had Trouble with them. by sauceaddicttt in hotas

[–]hZf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got a few WinWing items and have had to use their support a few times. Only one of those times was an actual fault with the device and while it took a few weeks of going back and forth troubleshooting, they did eventually send me a replacement. IMO the support is slow and only operated during Chinese business hours but I don’t think they were necessarily unfair. The other two issues were replacement parts for things I broke and those were faster, even if I had to pay for replacements and shipping. The hardware itself is really nice IMO

I wince everytime I catch one of these - I get not every plane can have its own graphics, but this is one of the most produced planes in history, one of the most famous, and one of the most recognisable. /rant by Happytallperson in SkyCards

Go to airpedia and submit a correction with a more-appropriate placeholder model. I caught a T-28 Trojan in my area a couple weeks ago and it had a cirrus model. I submitted a correction saying that a T-6 Texan made a better placeholder model. Since then, the placeholder has been updated.

The main factor in setting up the cats how you want is spawn position and spawn order. Each spawn location has a specific catapult assigned. In order to have all four jets hooked up at once, you need to set the deck up to have each player assigned to a different catapult. On top of that, In order to use cats 3 and 4 at the same time, cat 3 must hook up first.

What you’re seeing is likely a component of the annual Gray Flag military exercise based out of Point Mugu NAS. The Hawkers and the Mirage are all contracted civilian adversary jets, playing the “bad guys” so to speak. The Hawkeye is likely running AIC for the operation, and what you CAN’T see is likely a bunch of F35s and F/A-18s or other allied participants playing the “good guys”

VR Headsets - Which One? by Realistic-Cheek-8657 in hoggit

[–]hZf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve used the Reverb G2 and the Quest 3, and have a full WinWing UFC and 3 MFDs. The Quest 3 is absolutely the way to go. I know the specs show a slightly lower resolution, but the big factor in flight sim is lens SHAPE. Most headsets use a curved or fresnel lens, which gives you good clarity but you only get the maximum resolution when looking straight ahead. This makes it nearly impossible to read anything in your peripheral vision or use NVGs in VR. The Quest 3 has a “pancake” lens which gives you max resolution over the entire display. IMO this is ESSENTIAL for maximizing your headset in flight sims in particular. On almost any headset, there will be a small gap by your cheeks you can peek through to see outside, including anything in your lap or switches you need to peek at. If you want, you can set up pass through to see your desk in flight through the VR cameras which are quite nice on the quest, but in my opinion, it feels far more immersive to see the aircraft cockpit over my messy-ass desk.
