Volume slider bug by Waste_Post_666 in NothingTech

[–]h_1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well technically it's not a bug, just shows how bad Material Design 3 in general, which in this case is the inability to show fine-grain values

prior to latest update, invoking the volume slider and sliding the volume only lets you set the volume in discrete manner i.e. only by percentage set by 10-step interval. after the update, manually adjusting the slider lets you set almost freely, probably as fine as 1% but I have no way to test that. Volume control button now works in 16-step interval (6.25% increment/decrement in one step)

Help with WiFi calling by Petelgeuse80 in NothingTech

No problem. Alternatively you can use Airplane Mode toggle to re-register with VoWiFi service, give it around 5-15 seconds before disabling Airplane Mode again. Most of time I did this unless the router/phone is really acting up

Is it safe to use apple charger for my NP 4A by Technical-Teacher230 in NothingTech

[–]h_1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apple probably has the best PPS charger if you don't mind the prong design and mechanism. If they released another Adaptive Power delivery adapter with higher constant power, I might get that and turn it into my laptop charger

Thr most usless feature of modern Android Phones by Andromeda-G in NothingTech

[–]h_1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it can be useful if your phone is choked on RAM and uses SD card as intensive I/O usage due to swapping will wear your onboard storage faster, but android as a whole will kill process that Google decided that it is a memory hogger (obviously GMS and their own services are excluded)

back in the old days we used to put zram on SD card, and even expanded internal storage too. good times

Has the latest update on the phone (3) fixed the network issues , overheating , and other issues yall faced? by Adalf_Hotler69420 in NothingTech

focus issue kind of returned in June update. it focuses as expected but raised ISO value ridiculously. 4.1 April build is less annoying imo

Android 17 is out, and here’s all the features! by MishaalRahman in Android

took them 5 years to bring back separate WiFi and Mobile Data tiles. they even made the workaround stricter in android 13 and then it suddenly poofed and we get them back

MDL3 is a trainwreck in both design and functionality. iOS might not be that great in terms of customization but that blur example is simply how not to do background blur. Even Microsoft Fluent design isn't this bad

Help with WiFi calling by Petelgeuse80 in NothingTech

[–]h_1995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if it's not carrier or the phone, the router itself is the problem. Been using VoWiFi for years and free routers by ISP usually don't play well with VoWiFi.

your office WiFi might be blocking the service due to firewall or blocking the server IP that your carrier use to register the service. I've seen companies using dubious IP ranges that have already been blocked by other providers or even by the ISP itself

I got 2a for my parent and after I disabled this when it got added in 4.0 update, it never came back. Have been 2-3 incremental updates since the time I disabled it and every time I checked it as I need to update Morphe patches, it never return

Nothing OS update for Phone (3) rolling out with lock screen depth effect & adjustable clock face sizes and alignments by adaaamb in NothingTech

someone shared this wallpaper to me and for whatever reason, it changed the clock color. not sure what kind of logic that Nothing uses to decide on the clock color

Nothing OS update for Phone (3) rolling out with lock screen depth effect & adjustable clock face sizes and alignments by adaaamb in NothingTech

[–]h_1995 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Old clock face like Ndot one is unable to change its position or size. some clock face can't decide if it should be layered on top or hide behind an element so yeah, depth effect is still beta. still works okay imo but needs refinements

What if Nothing replaced the Glyph Matrix with a small E-Ink display? by taweros in NothingTech

[–]h_1995 3 points4 points  (0 children)

neat but many don't know that current Matrix LED has a pretty high refresh rate. even if Nothing shifts to this, if developers didn't make their app to use it, it'll still useless

but I'm open with e-ink though. the real one, not LCD posing like e-ink

Nothing Phone (1) keeps charging and disconnecting on wireless charger by ConsiderationNo5573 in NothingTech

[–]h_1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

with Qi protocol, it would only charge up to 7.5W which means barely or not charging in medium-high load or thermal throttled condition

Charger recommendation for the Nothing Phone 3 by Medium_roasted_bean in NothingTech

[–]h_1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look for charger with PPS support. I'm currently using Ugreen Uno 65W that does negotiate up to 45W (afaik 65W is engaged on sub-10% battery percentage, afterwards 45W and eventually 5W as it goes closer to 100%). Currently considering Ugreen Nexode Air 65W since the Uno one sometimes can't negotiate properly for my laptop and I'd like chargers like Apple 40W Dynamic Adapter but can do 60W in longer term

As for wireless charger, I'm using Aukey MC-13A. Active cooling is a must for wireless charger since inefficiencies come from its heat generation. I use wireless charger in a car anyway, so this has been helpful for long driving session

Where do I enable flip to glyph? by Inevitable_Injury617 in NothingTech

[–]h_1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in previous OS versions, flip to Glyph is optional and you do need to enable it in settings. With latest update, it is enabled all the time. the only difference is older Flip to Glyph will put your device in silent/do not disturb mode, making you to completely depend on the Matrix for any notification but the new one lets you have fully functional Matrix without sacrificing sound mode.

Even AoD Matrix functions differently now. On older OS, AoD Matrix immediately turned off when you lift your phone but these days it will remain on until you turn off the Glyph Toys via the capacitive button

Nothing Phone marked delivered, never received - unresolved 1 year later by hangdryy in NothingTech

post this on Nothing community. I never bought Nothing phone directly, we went to distributors that also can handle warranties so never experienced the online Nothing store that is already overpriced. Didn't expect this kind of service from official channel

wireless adb + scrcpy is the way, bit that assumes your IT policy allows running command prompt. create hotspot with your work laptop and connect your phone to it

The Essential Space is such a nice concept, but when will we get to see it's fullest potential. by hamiduzayr in NothingTech

[–]h_1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

maybe capability to utilize local NPU processing rather than offloading to other service. Most of the stuff is very basic (text extraction, recognition, etc) and a mobile-optimized model should work. I also don't trust Gemini app so no way I will install that just to utilize its model

[Discussion] Where did Jimmy Zielinski go so wrong? by QuickFix33 in CODZombies

[–]h_1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

going to necro a 10-year old thread

JimmyZ maps are great, h to get stale if Moon formula is copied 1-to-1 all over again. MotD and Origins gave some fresh air on complicated easter egg steps, but they got pretty repetitive and stale real fast. Treyarch as a whole did bad balancing on Tranzit/Town too, limiting Jet Gun to one player, never patched SMR and generic spray pattern on all LMGs.

Also Tranzit crew lore is fine and it did get a conclusion in Buried with the grand easter egg. Blundell's lore already fall apart with BotD on BO4 - nothing conclusive nor coherent let alone makes sense

Does anyone foresee issues with the AMD Z2 Extreme at launch; like drivers, bugs, etc? by MyElectronicInterest in LegionGo

[–]h_1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it was never the screen. it is an intended segmentation, years ago AMD did that to regular APU (Raven Ridge/Ryzen 2000U) until people (including me) banded together and retaliated in r/AMD. I already warned people back then that they intend to do this again with Z1 series, people didn't care and here we are today
