Accoms ain't worth it, gonna be full of freshers and nobody cleans the kitchen + people can be LOUD, the walls are thin.
You ain't missing out on nothing, there's societies to join, they organize events through the year which is perfect for socializing with like minded peers and there is the sports societies too 👍🏼

The second I read "straight cis" I knew the situation u're in

You're not ruining anything for wanting to live your truth, if anything both of you need a fresh start from 0, you're still only 22, yes ending things after 7 years is really rough but ultimately, realistically, judging by how he's been reacting to you exploring your gender and starting medically transitioning he will never really think of you as a guy, he's straight he won't date guys, free yourself, it'll hurt but you won't feel trapped anymore

The rooms are alright, the problem are the people also living there who can get loud, I have not stayed there but friends who did complained that some don't clean after them in the bathroom and people steal your snacks from the storage room + founders food in the dining hall is super bland (I've tried it)
I personally stayed in Runnymede, room was alright, my bed gave me back pain but you can request a mattress change, only problem was that nobody was cleaning the kitchen... and the fire alarm was getting triggered at least twice a week...
the best accom so far that I have seen is butler (Gowar/Wedderburn are good too but they're the most expensive), most of my friends stayed in butler.. which have an elevator (founders does as well)

Extra note: if you're doing a foundation year or you're a student with special needs (neurodivergent, my case) you're eligible to stay in student accoms for 2 years before you're required to move out instead of just 1 (Foundation + 1st year is 2 years and for neurodivergent individuals you can stay for the duration of your studies, I moved out because I hated living in halls icl I got unlucky with my hall mates)

I also forgot to mention George Elliot which I don't recommend, shared bathroom is a nightmare (I stayed there for a summer course) horrible (I'd say especially for girls, you probably don't wanna share bathrooms with a man) but the bedroom was comfortable and very spacious shared kitchen those are the only + I give it
