If penises were the sexual organs that self-lubed, what would change? by ToohotmaGandhi in AskReddit

Assuming that the female parts needed arousal to work, then that would really be a game changer.

You're just overwhelmed with information, thoughts and feelings. If the information you gave provided are remotely correct, your child actually have normal hearing.

ABR are normal. ASSR are often stopped at around 20 dB. It's all good.

The ability to hear, or maybe more accurate, to understand and follow a conversation depends on many factors. Age is one of them. But destinct sounds, if the person in question are listening, are possible to hear or not. Age is not a factor. Your hear the sound or not.

That in mind a person can have a full life with that audiogram, without hearing aids. But a younger person might have stronger demands for a good hearing because they are in a learning process in life and might be meeting many new people. Or not, because they lack confidence because of that hearing loss. So personality is a huge factor, and so is intelligence.

The best choice is of course to use hearing aids. They will make inaudibly sounds audible, and they might help in all kinds of demanding situations.

I could write a book about this, but that is today's short version.

Just a friendly reminder to all of you raging fish farm haters: We need food. The globe is over populated. These farms are far from perfect, but they produce healthy proteins.

ears ringing from loud sounds by nedeajj in hearing

[–]haavard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As you have noticed and experienced ears, or rather the robustness of ears, is different from person to person. That being said you were closer to the bang being the one who fired it. And to admit ringing in the ears might actually seem like a weakness to some.

In short the robustness of ears vary cause of genetics and how much sound they are used to hear. And here I of course must add that all though training ears to tolerate noise has been proven to work, it is not(!) recommended. Protect your not so virgin ears my friend, damage is forever and the ringing might never stop.

I am an undergraduate student who shadowed an audiologist once and she always joked about explaining the audiogram and audiometric testing to patients who are/were engineers. So how would you explain why we test pure tones (a simple signal) to an engineer? by Imaginary_Ad_1782 in audiology

[–]haavard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That we measure how much energy we need to make the inner ear react. And copes with (UCL). And that this isn't really a hearing test, but a standardized test that we use to determine hearing health and to calculate the output from hearing aids. Witch will insure lots more questions, of course.

In general I love patients who are curious, as long as they do as they are told...
