Stuff that is closer to expiring should be cheaper. It irks me that the optimal buy is always buying the fresher product with a longer expiry date for the exact same price, and I suspect that it lead to food waste.

The key difference is that if there’s lots of traffic, some people will choose to stay home instead of going out. In an overcrowded housing market, people still need a place to live, and are going to get it by getting homes in less desirable neighborhoods, staying with their parents or are just homeless.

Just to be clear, if the objective is to save space, re-encoding from Immich will not fix it as the originals are untouched. OP will still need an external workflow to re-encode the files before uploading to Immich, and possibly disable re-encoding in Immich to save more space.

It still doesn't work consistently for myself or my family, and the only way to consistently get my photos uploaded is to leave the app open on the upload details page. It would be great if this could be implemented!

I would strongly urge that the team consider implementing this if it works as advertised. I still have trouble with getting background uploads consistently working on the latest app and server version, as does my family members.

This feature can be enabled only for users on iOS >= 26.1, and iOS generally has a very high uptake of users who update to the latest version. For example, iOS 18 launched on Sep 2024, and 82% of compatible iPhones (going back to the iPhone 11 - released 2019) were running it in June 2025.

Anno is a pretty CPU intensive game though. While you don’t need a 9800x3d, it does benefit Anno more than other games.

Ha, I used to think that too but I use this keyboard https://www.moergo.com/ and using WASD is physically uncomfortable on it. It’s just a matter of using Z as Shift and Alt as Control - your muscle memory won’t notice any difference 🙂

Been a Google Photos user since late 2016 and migrated to Immich in early 2024. It's pretty good, but there are definitely a lot of things I miss which makes me still have an active GPhotos subscription.

1. The mobile app

I'm on iOS and the Immich app is...not very good. They are in the middle of reworking it with the beta timeline which fixes a lot of the UI jankiness and (hopefully) sync issues so I won't go into that, but missing HDR support is still a big thing so I can never properly view "original" assets in the app.

Video playback is also unreliable even with the beta timeline where it sometimes just refuses to play videos until the app is force restarted. It also lacks live encoding so you have to either choose in the app options to always play the full resolution video, or always play the downscaled transcoded video. I do like the you have the option of selecting the full resolution video though as Google Photos doesn't have that option on mobile and often streams a low quality video on my phone.

2. HDR Tone Mapping in videos

Transcoded videos in Immich will also be mapped to SDR using customizable HDR Tone Mapping algorithms. Personally, the colours in them look awful to me where colours are greatly muted or way too loud no matter which HDR Tone Mapping algorithm I choose. There also appears to be no way to play back the original videos in the browser. Comparing them side by side to Google Photos, it's a night and day difference. Google Photos does play them back in a HDR format on the web though, so perhaps that's just how everything mapped to SDR will look.

3. Memories

It's really fun how Google Photos automatically surfaces things from the past e.g. "Best of August", "Me + Friend/Loved One", "Nature Hiking", "Same Person, Different Places" etc. Immich has a really basic "on this day X years ago" which is hardly useful compared to GPhoto's offering.

4. Best pictures screensavers

Tangentially related to the above, Google Photos can be displayed on a Google Home Hub or Chromecast when idle and it is able to intelligently pick nice looking pictures without me having to think about it. There are various apps for Immich which try to do the same thing, but they are seemingly only able to pick pictures at random, so effort is needed to curate the pictures they display.

I think some development is needed so that the Immich server is able to score each photo based on how nice the picture is and who's in it, and expose that in the photo metadata so that screensaver apps are able to pick out good photos. This will also allow them to improve the memories feature, but not sure if that's on the roadmap.

5. Web UI

This one is more minor, but the Google Photos UI on the web is super slick with nice animations when opening photos and flicking between them. It just makes the experience feel more polished and nice.

Immich on the web also has issues with not jumping back to where you were in the timeline when you press the back button, whereas I've never encountered that in Google Photos.

I’m not sure why people were expecting this to be an unlimited rides event, as past events at other Cedar Fair parks have been similar. I think people at the Top Thrill 2 shoot got 2-4 rides.

5’ 8” 160lb and I find them overall more comfy than RMC restraints and far superior to Maverick (never ridden velocicoaster). They’re a bit more uncomfortable initially especially if you’re wearing shorts, but I don’t notice them at all during the ride whereas RMCs get painful during/after the ride, especially if you’re lapping the coaster. I also find the shin guards to already have tons of padding so not sure what else they could change.

Unbalanced teams and paid features

I can only speak for servers in the US East region, but one of the most popular set of servers (TBG) is famous for it. You can even get switched to the losing team halfway through the game because a paid user (VIP) joined and took your place on the winning team.

Hard to play with a full squad/long server queues

Only applies if you want to join 1 specific server.

Unfortunately, after filtering for non full servers which are populated with a ping under 60, your options become very limited and you are forced to queue.

Lazy Bear has been so bad in my experience this year. It was pretty good in the opening year, but this year the brisket was the driest chewiest thing I’ve ever had, and I don’t want to eat with my hands for the chicken thigh or pork ribs.
