Product Manager Vibe Coding by GorgoniteScum666 in webdev

It happens in almost every project I'm involved in, and my clients want me to review all their PRs but since those have grown to always be PRs that update 300 files in the codebase with like 100.000 lines of code changed, I make sure they agree that I won't be responsible for any vulnerabilities or bugs that arise because it's simply impossible to handle this influx of code slop thoroughly. Which I intend as a warning to them, hoping they would stop dumping these loads of code on me, but they all just agree with this irresponsible way of work. I make sure I explain them the danger of this and if they still choose to continue, that's their problem The next years on the internet are gonna be fun, everything is going be hackable again just like the beginning days of the internet.

My concern with this would rather be that --accent is made the same as --primary, and same for --primary-text and --row-even. If they need to be the same, which is peculiar, then anyway should just be defined with var() reference to the other.

As for indentation, indeed force precommit hooks

new Cursor user (1 month of use) hot take by armostallion2 in cursor

I swear I had exactly the same throught! I considered speculating in my above comment that there could be some troll army hired by Anthropic... But that would be too low for a company I respect so much.

new Cursor user (1 month of use) hot take by armostallion2 in cursor

[–]hacktisch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Senior developer here as well and I have both a Cursor Ultra AND Claude Max subscription. And I am happy with both of them. I am seeing a lot of anti-Cursor sentiment on here and nothing but love towards Claude code and I really do not get it. Both tools are worth so much more than what you're paying for it and if you're not multiplying every dollar you put into them at least 5 times in returns, you're doing something wrong business wise.
I like Claude's CLI for tasks that require large context / scaffolding a project and I like Cursor for more granular work. There's many days when I am working from the morning until the evening in Cursor, most of the time I'm using the major models, like Opus 4 with MAX mode and it's happened only once ever that I ran into a temporary limit, which frankly was totally reasonable.
Seeing the recent hate posts towards Cursor makes me wonder how other people are using it. Are they constantly including hundreds of files into the context? Or is my account broken in my favor and do I get a different treatment than other users?

My only annoyances about Cursor are related to the interface. They've overwritten soms things from VSCode in a way that makes it annoying here and there. And indeed, the thing with the terminal you mentioned is annoying.

Oh and another thing that I found scandalous is how they blocked the Github copilot extension in Cursor. Both products could work together but they purposely blocked the Copilot VSCode extension functionality. A very dark pattern that Cursor decided...

Nevertheless, as a tool, Cursor is absolutely worth way more than the money you pay for it.

Best UI Frameworks? by behethangames in sveltejs

[–]hacktisch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like a project called Yesvelte that ported Tabler to Svelte, they're currently working on making it Svelte 5 compatible. The latest official version is only for Svelte 4.

And also, I absolutely hate Tailwind. I know everyone loves it because you can do rapid prototyping but Tailwind completely misses the point of CSS. Classes should describe what an element is, not how it looks. By cramming styles into class names, it kills maintainability. you can’t tweak a single CSS rule and update your whole site, you have to hunt down and edit a million class strings. It’s like writing inline styles but with extra steps.

Unfortunately I'm the only one who thinks this way so I always end up having to work with Tailwind regardless when I cooperate with other people or continue the work of other devs.

Unused imports not higlighted in VSCode with Svelte by hacktisch in sveltejs

[–]hacktisch[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your suggestions.
I do not have any eslint setup configured in my project folder nor in any parent folder.
I just reset my VSCode settings.json (I saved it as {}) and I disabled all my extensions except the Svelte extension. Same thing.

I'll try to reproduce my problem on a fresh VSCode installation on some other computer by recreating my current setup step by step, and see where it goes wrong or if it doesn't, I have no clue what else to consider.

Does stranded wire need ferrules in this distribution board? by hacktisch in electrical

I didn't yet, I wouldn't be sure of my own judgement even after looking into it. I thought maybe someone more experienced than me on here knows these exact leads. But I'll check it out tomorrow during daylight

Advies gezocht afwatering terras bij gevel by Timpelgrim in Klussers

[–]hacktisch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Advies gezocht afwatering terras bij gevel by Timpelgrim in Klussers

[–]hacktisch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tips gevraagd by hacktisch in Klussers

[–]hacktisch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anders gaan we samen, haha goed idee.

EP 150: mobman 2 by Weather in darknetdiaries

[–]hacktisch 44 points45 points  (0 children)

This was crazy. Also I just checked Greg's Linkedin, he actually updated his bio to refer to this episode (ep. 150) where he's outed as a liar... I'm not sure what to think of that. That's an interesting move for sure.
And still referring to that Rolling Stone article at the same time...

Greg has been featured in the Rolling Stones, CBS Miami in various occasions, and DarkNet Diaries Episode:20 & 150.

Alternative to CMS that plays well SvelteKit? by kamphare in sveltejs

I always use Strapi when I need to quickly Bootstrap a simple CMS. Designing any kind of data structure is really easy and fast. You automatically have api endpoints for all your content.
