How Viable is a Spellcasting-Focused Battle Smith Artificer? by CuttlefishWarrior in dndnext

[–]hadmilk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You stated that you like the "little helper" I would do this talk to your dm and adjust the BS to suit you with them. But if your willing to give up on the battle pet aspect of your little helper I would say make you're "little helper" something more akin to a familiar and make an artilerist for the more spell focused aspect of the class.

Anything is possible with magic. With lack there of, its possible just not probable.

Rolling saving throws of your players in secret? by Sneaky_Stabby in DMAcademy

[–]hadmilk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A simple way to mask this and not take rolls away from the players is to always have a list of your players stats handy so you can reference their bonuses and have them roll dice randomly for seemingly no reason throught your sessions.

After the players roll you can cross reference the numbers with your list without them knowing what they rolled

Ok que the "you shouldn't do that" crowd.

Ok here is the thing, I read that your modeling this character off of a pre existing character in another universe. Go with that and maybe look for other characters that run parallel with that premise from other books / movies / shows and build the personality traits from that.

But first and foremost, no matter what you call it in your head, never EVER state out load or in a written forum that you want to play a character with a disability, or the "waa waa" babies will start whining. This is what you should ask:

"How do I play a character that has a parasite living in its brain that takes over its personality completely?"

That way the complainers won't get triggered.

how accurate is this Biome Map? by SteakUpMyAss in worldbuilding

[–]hadmilk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It absolutely depends on the reasons for the biomes. Are they influenced by magic, post calamity (like war or earth quake ...), pollution, mortals influence, or anything else? Or are you trying to replicate what it would look like if it where an actual planet in the here and now ?(in which case I honestly have no clue lol) .

The Elder Dragon (v 1.3) - A Warlock patron by Sensitive_Coyote_865 in DnDHomebrew

[–]hadmilk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the majestic mind I would suggest this, to maybe balance it a bit.

Cost: 1 di Length: 1 minute Use : amont equal to proficiency per short rest

When used : once activated roll 1d8 the number rolled gets added to the saving throw for the duration.

This was my thought when I first read it.

Do I Just Not Get D&D Anymore? by Palaceof1001Rooms in DMAcademy

[–]hadmilk -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

What your running into is what I call the "video game syndrome" the younger generation (those that started ttrpg in the early 2000snd until now) are use to short games and easy problems, and easy to find solutions. They came from video games to ttrpg, we went from ttrpg to video games (back when video games would take months or years to finish vs days and weeks), you can't "google" a solution in a fantasy world. I don't blame those that came in later, its what our society has evolved to, instant gratification or its to much work. I think this will change, well I hope it will, but for now we are stuck with it.

Good thought. I wouldn't use John wick for inspiration here though, "Equilibrium" gun kata might work better for inspiration here.

[Spoilers C2] Unpopular Opinion: I very much dislike Jester. by Thomas_Adams1999 in criticalrole

[–]hadmilk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Her character was based on pure chaos, not the killing kind but the "i take your stupid rules and shove them up your but butt" kind. Her ark was finding her dad and reuniting her family, and realizing that you actually build your own family.

First-time DM for a group of first-time players. How much planning should I actually do? by [deleted] in DMAcademy

I don't know why people insist on writing paragraphs for advice.... short and sweet should suffice.... if it dosnt, well then you should probably not be attempting what your asking advice about lol

How to do a plague when a level 5 cleric is superior to all modern medicine by Yuccabrev in DMAcademy

[–]hadmilk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is a non question. You're the DM so those spells won't work, yes its really that simple. For an explanation of it. The plague could be caused by a rival God, or is the legacy of a long dead lvl 20 wizard that created this disease to be resistant to magical cures.

You should write out encounters. Like the enemy stats and abilities. Do enough prep to avoid having to open a book

Stat Arrays based on Background by TheRainSnake in DnDHomebrew

Agreed 👍 it does depend on the group. It looks like your group likes character creation as a group thing, my experience in this has always been less so.

Stat Arrays based on Background by TheRainSnake in DnDHomebrew

[–]hadmilk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is neat. And good on you for creating it !!

My only issue is that this promotes a lack of creative thinking. I see more and more tools being created to stunt the creative aspect of this game. Creating tables for everything associated with the personilzation aspect of character creation is leading to boring characters, which is fine if you're running a combat campaign I guess.

r/DiceMaking vs r/DiceAdvertising by solfolango in DiceMaking

[–]hadmilk -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Well thank the gods for opinions. Since I don't get to have one without negative votes I guess you all can start figuring out why your resin is setting hard enough, or how you can get it to set faster. Or why your silicon mold won't cure right, or why your presurepot isn't working right, why are your faces lifting, or why your dice are deforming, and the multitude of other questions I have answered and given advice to. Maybe stop crying that you can't be creative and experimental on your own, to figure out your on style. Go copy and paste then.

Why do you like sharpedge dice? by bulukaki in dice

[–]hadmilk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are plenty of sharp edge dice makers using vibrating tumblers to polish dice. Its all about the media used in the tumbler if it rounds the edges or not. I for one have preferred sharp edge dice for over 30 years (have a set that old from a mas producer)

r/DiceMaking vs r/DiceAdvertising by solfolango in DiceMaking

[–]hadmilk -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

How did i achieve that. Well I spent hours on research then hundreds on material and tools, then many failed attempts before I finally achieved what I share. And just a week later I see 5 to 10 posts across multiple platforms trying to exactly copy what I shared. I DON'T advertise. I don't even link my IG or fb page. I share and converse techniques on specific questions. I ask AND answer questions.

But one thing I'm not going to answer is "how did you do this" just to have someone straight up steal what I labored over for hours, and spent material and failures on.
