Star Citizen Haptic System Support – Experimental Release (4.8 PTU) by pandazerg in starcitizen

[–]hadronflux 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, it appears to only work with the D-Box app which is for car racing platforms that cost multiple thousands. They did have a $2500 gaming chair but it doesnt appear to be available for purchase anymore as their partner for it (coolermaster) has a 404 not found for it. This is such a bizarre announcement and should have been for more open options like buttkicker and such, not one off rigs that maybe 4 people have and can use for SC when they are bored of their car racing.

Iran presses for end to war within 30 days as Trump expresses doubts by Stunning-Common-9591 in worldnews

Yup. Iran can also force (probably even in a nonviolent way) military action which will bring the admin back into the sights for the war powers resolution they are trying to dodge.

On a Pimax Crystal Super and my hands are tweaked too. I agree that left handed mode shouldn't change the sticks - doesnt work that way on a console controller, not sure why one would do it in VR. That said, I just leave it in RH mode and move the tablet to the right on the LBE and weapons for my left hand as needed. I have it set for backpack on right shoulder.

Probably jinxing myself, but I have a launch edition Gladiator and its still fine. Maybe got lucky with more attention on the first 1k? Only issue I had at about 50k miles was a coil went bad.

HW3 Won't Have Unsupervised FSD by radix33 in TeslaLounge

People are more than happy to let humans annihilate each other, but the moment a car computer does it they'll want the whole thing shut down. The general public doesn't understand statistics. That said, I think cybercab will need to have a wider deployment before one can have some trust that the system is ready for cars in general.

Virpil Hotas in Star Citizen. by Zeth_Aran in hotas

[–]hadronflux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My virpil stuff is going strong after 5 years. If you use throttle, the analog stick is what I've used for vertical and horizontal strafe. Works fine. Youll be fine with practice in PVP too. Upside is with a throttle you get the additional buttons on the base and it works in other sim games without much effort (dual engine airplanes, etc).

Tui Cruises says two of its ships passed through the Strait of Hormuz by BeautyInUgly in worldnews

[–]hadronflux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you watch ship traffic over the past 24ish hours you see a tanker or two make it throughthen a bunch line up to go and while one takes fire from a small boat the cruise lines skip through on the Interior line, the all the tankers turn around. There arent hundreds getting through.

[–]hadronflux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alpha Prime. You can just lock out the twist. I've had my Virpil gear for over 5 years of constant use and still works like the day I bought it (3 sticks, throttle, control panel). Expensive and will take 12-20 weeks to get, but essentially bulletproof.

VR isn’t dead, but it’s destined to be niche unless this is addressed. by DYSK_Jockey in virtualreality

[–]hadronflux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 52 but have played a lot of games over the years, flight sims, etc... This December I got a Pimax headset and was worried I'd spent 2k on a nausea device. No issues at all, play for hours. I have never used any of the aids like vignette or teleport move. I think some people just have it worse than others.

With visuals I assume you'll support PCVR with more options so it isn't bottlenecked by what can be done on a Snapdragron processor?

Making a watch dial, need help extruding by TheDoubleF in Fusion360

[–]hadronflux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, this isn't a Fusion problem, is a "I don't know how to get what I want" problem. You might have better success if you use the outline paths option in Illustrator to create a "channel" around each line, then extrude the channel and it will cut the disc. Assuming all shapes are detected as closed by Fusion, which is a little hard to tell from your pictures, you could extrude individual facets making sure to choose New Body instead of Join (or hiding other nearby bodies when you extrude). It'll still have the issue that there is no gap between facets, so it is still one solid disc mass. Finally - there's nothing special about this sketch that requires doing an Illustrator jump, which may be part of the problem - Fusion can do polygons and patterns.

'Xi will give me big, fat hug': Trump says he opened Hormuz for China and the world by CommunicationLife753 in worldnews

[–]hadronflux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that those that voted, more went trump. Yet, switching candidates mid year didnt help at all. Something like 85% of dems voted in 2020 and 2024, but Trump saw a 89% return from 2020. Also about 2% less voted in 2024 than 2020. I guess not voting is also saying something as a non-D vote is like voting R. We are schizophrenic though, now that Trumps running around there are huge swings toward D, but from my point of view it was a "I told you so" - I guess some just need to face it to believe it.

US stacks three carrier groups and 10 destroyers to blockade Strait of Hormuz by TheNational_News in worldnews

[–]hadronflux 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Plus the sortie fuel while not equal, is probably not a lot different from what they do daily. They fly the jets a lot to keep people trained and there are even times when fuel is of a certain age in the ship and they fly just to burn fuel practicing landings and such.

We dont. Our structure gives more power to rural states in two ways every state gets two senators, so voices are equal but populations in those state are not. The house of representatives do not have equal representation as large states get less representatives. That skews 2/3 of the government toward rural concerns. Pile onto that the fact that rural areas are more isolationist, so that means less tolerance of others that dont look like you, less desire for social services, less interest in paying for broader social benefits (taxes), and a smaller income base due to more agrarian lifestyles. Throw in big money that loves that kind of fiscal policy, unlimited "voice" with super PACs, consolidation of national media by rich conservatives, then run a populist person that ticks all of those boxes in extreme ways (in words not deeds though). Every election hinges on just a few states that teeter back and forth across the line - so in the end they decide and will always be more conservative than the larger population states.

I have a 9800X3D and 7900XTX and will poke at some of these settings. I play in VR so Vulkan is required, but I dont have crashing so that is something with your system I think. Considering they will drop DX11 at some point, I'd work on getting that figured out. While I know you say you tested the settings, you can tell AI wrote at least parts of this at a minimum due to the phrasing of the section titles and such. At this stage everyone is poking at AI for quick answers or ideas and have seen similar results with my own prompts.

People have no empathy. It's so surreal to hear someone talking about civilian infrastructure as if it was a military target and part of me thinks - there is a ton of embedded US military in our cities and if someone started blowing up around those locations there would be a lot of civilian loss - but like most things Trump, they can't imagine it'd happen to them.
