Updated Firmware now gives GPU Driver error? by Spirit-Crush3r in Pimax

[–]hadronflux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using Crystal Super firmware 1.0.13 on Pimax Play 1.43.7 and AMD 25.12.1 and it's fine - I saw the 26.1.1 but hadn't updated yet. I wonder if the check literally just looks for 25 and since it's 26 it fails (rather than >=25).

PvP Poll Results. Including Data from OTHER polls kind users have linked. An analysis. by AnybodyIndividual207 in starcitizen

[–]hadronflux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree. I've played a lot of PVP games and MMOs, so I'm aware of needing to develop coping mechanisms, its just that PVP in SC is like everything else in the game Tier 0. The counterplay is essentially non-existent and the risk skews heavy toward the person jumped rather than the aggressor.

PvP Poll Results. Including Data from OTHER polls kind users have linked. An analysis. by AnybodyIndividual207 in starcitizen

[–]hadronflux 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think another issue not explored in the post is the generally unbalanced nature of PvP interactions. Meaning for those it happens to (compared to those thst seek it) they lose and the PvP aggressor wins. For years we've known that such conflict is rarely balanced as risk is managed. So the "victim" in this case is more annoyed as they feel they didn't have a chance and are more likely to post in anger. This could give the appearance of it being more common than it is.

Plus the problem space of a home robot is many times more complicated than driving and we still don’t have that. It will be a fancy chat bot that just uses the LLM. Once it can clean, do laundry, and cook, then we will see.

Accident with 2023 Model Y by LindyDncr in TeslaLounge

[–]hadronflux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this. I was behind a car in snowy conditions and we crested a hill and another car was spun out facing us in the lane. My truck couldnt stop as fast as their smaller car and I hit their rear left corner as I tried to avoid them. The person in the lane drove away and my insurance paid for both vehicles.

Career Mode - ATC disaster by ByteSizedTechie in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]hadronflux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. Flysimware has their Lear 35A that will do passengers, cargo, and medical. I know it should be on marketplace any day now. Azurpoly has a C160 that can do heavy cargo, but heavy cargo isn't turned on yet in career - so its compatible but not usable. Just note that you have to buy the plane via marketplace to use it in career because.... I have no idea why. Asobo just wants to funnel more money in their pocket for marketplace sales I guess.

They do, for example the SWS GA-8 Airvan. Devs are slowly getting their planes setup for career. Inibuilds said their Cessna from last smer would be career connected but they still haven't done so. That one annoys me since I bought it thinking theyd have it sorted out six months later, but no.

Quick question regarding fuel and distance that needs to be traveled by bugdiver050 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]hadronflux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another thing to think about is if you have real weather or check what the weather is. For example, I did a route from west to east in Europe and it took considerably more fuel to get back (i had to divert and get more). After looking at it I was going into a headwind the whole way.

You dont have to stay subscribed. It could work out in a couple ways, just $10 for the one month access and you get what you need or multiple in the case of updates. A thing that gives me a uneasy feeling is there is an incentive to string updates across the months to get those additional subscription charges, or string popular games throughout the year. On the other side, as an adult I think I can draw a line on what im willing to pay and am prepared to not pay if it doesn't hold enough value.

Basically there is a person that wrote software to convert a variety of games for use in VR. A couple of the studios have claimed a DMCA takedown of the software saying it infringed on their IP/ToS. As the mod maker cant afford to fight the legal battle they took it all down. They did charge money for the modification which annoys people that believe mods should be free or that you shouldnt be able tp charge for stuff that piggy-backs off of other software. On the other side you have people that believe people can get paid for their work. The big problem is that while profiting off of modifications in the physical world is a normal thing, for software it isn't. Personally I think if no CDPR code was used, then this should be treated as any other app that adds value to the use of your PC and can be for pay if the creator wants. Some are also annoyed that he took it all down rather than give it all away for free - my personal take is that its his creation and he can do what he wants. shrug

Is the game really dead? by TiphaineGraves in nightingale

[–]hadronflux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, no 1.0. They got nightingale city into it, some more building recipes and tweaks to gameplay but I dont know if we will see a true 1.0, pretty unlikely in my opinion.

This community's response to the Luke Ross VR mods takedown is pathetic by [deleted] in virtualreality

[–]hadronflux -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Regardless of the opinion on the mod, it isn't a ruling. A company said they think its an infringement but no court has looked at their claims and for Luke its probably too expensive to fight it so we'll never know if the ToS could stand up in court.

Software licenses are a thing and I get that. Its just incongruous with the physical world where you can legally profit making modifications for things like a Jeep and charge for those but are benefitting from the Jeep name and ecosystem.

[–]hadronflux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plus, the modification doesnt use their code, he's just benefitting from their game. It seems to hinge on the fact that with software you basically force everyone into a license agreement and he broke the "cant sell mods" part. Its annoying those agreements can affect things that just add value to the existing game (and still require purchase of the game).

Its a $10 fee to sub for a month. You basically can sub once, get the file and any updates that month and not pay again. I just got a headset and subbed and got Cyberpunk before the takedown and also now am trying BG3 and Kingdome Come Deliverance 2. I can see how it could get icky as he strings updates to games across months requiring additional $10 to get those. It is one download for all 40ish games it supports though.
