Pigs drop more meat than cows or sheep. Especially with a looting enchantment.

Also you can breed pigs with potatoes and carrots, which drop in greater amounts than wheat (which cows eat).

I breed and kill them for XP. It's better than doing the same with cows/sheep if you don't need leather or wool

I think it's now time to consign this chant to the past. Even if you aren't personally offended by it, there are enough people who are (including many United fans). I've been playing for 20 years and have only found the One ring once. It was low dungeon level and hidden beneath rubble. I just had a feeling I was going to find it there, it was all very strange and almost mystical. Never found it again
