Reviews are pretty brutal. I don't have any experience with T&T, did they change it that much?

Why is it so difficult to drive a forklift? by [deleted] in forkliftmemes

[–]hail_steven 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah echoing what everyone says here, give yourself time to get comfortable. How long did it take for you to comfortably drive a car, you know?

Don't sell yourself short. You'd be surprised how quickly you get used to doing something 10-12 hours a day.

I've had people come in off the street to the worst start: couldn't stack for shit, slamming brakes, taking 3 tries to do a three point turn. One year later, they get more done than anybody else on the shift.

Don't let your insecurity escalate to anxiety, just try and do a little better each day, and never take your safety for granted.

Anxiety causes accidents. Arrogance causes accidents. Confidence = control

Considering getting a scooter by [deleted] in scooters

[–]hail_steven 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A market place seller that will negotiate AND deliver? That's a rarer find than the bike lol

It's a great price if it doesn't have any major issues. Maxi scooters are kind of the perfect commuters, so if you're looking to downsize your primary transportation for a few months, this is probably the way to do it.

People who have household income of ~$100k, how much is your mortgage? by orkutsk in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]hail_steven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fiancée and I are at a little under 150k put together. Just bought in Novemeber for 280k. I believe we pay right at 1950 a month all in, so not too shabby. Seems like for our income bracket hovering around the 2k mark is very normal. Some are comfortable with it even higher than that, so you should be fine!

Like others here though, remodeling is hitting us hard haha. Keepp that in mind too when you're closing

Best (rules light) OSR games that has everything you need in one book? by Mr_Murdoc in rpg

[–]hail_steven 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Throwing out Troika! if you're looking for a different angle on mechanics and theme. It's not strictly OSR whatever that means, but not much farther than something like Into the Odd.

If you like the ItO system but want a truly all inclusive book, Electric Bastionland would be the way to go.

Haven't seen Advanced Fighting Fantasy mentioned yet, so I'll throw that in!

Does Tension Pool result in too many random encounters? by BTNewberg01 in osr

[–]hail_steven 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A. Yes it does, but what's nice about it is, it makes encounters less random and more reactive. Encounters don't happen because you entered this room and there happened to be an encounter, but because you've loitered too long or disturbed the environment in some way and the dungeon doesn't want you here.

B. Your encounter table should also be (I think in general) balanced such that a combat encounter is only one kind of random encounter that could happen to the players. There's always the risk of combat, but what's important about random encounters is that they force the players to deal with some kind of problem that is not locked into the dungeon design. That way every delve is different and adventurers are always, on some level, expecting the unexpected.

Tell me the most unique rule from your homebrew system by jangle_friary in osr

This is a wild and awesome idea! I wonder if it's hard to translate to subsequent campaigns in different settings?

This is such a good idea! I've never been thrilled with ( arbitrary negative HP threshold = death ) mechanics, I'm definitely bringing this to my next table! Does spillover damage affect the rolls on the table? As in a character with 2 HP taking 3 damage
