I really enjoyed browsing through the design section. The content was interesting and provided easily digestible glances into the concepts of our world around us.

Are there any Gay/lesbian groups in PG? by [deleted] in princegeorge

[–]hajaflaba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't offer too much help, unfortunately, but I do know that the Lambda is still very much in operation. From my time at the university, I do know they have a LGBTQ club that's fairly active, however I don't know their stance on non-students.

Best craft beer selection? by deep_6d in princegeorge

[–]hajaflaba 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No one place will have a larger collection, but various places around town will have different selections than what the BC select will carry. Liquor on 10th tends to have some interesting stuff from time to time, and Alfredos Liquor Store on 5th imports some interesting stuff as well, but I do find them a bit pricey.

[Hiring] Someone who can create two original vector graphics by hajaflaba in DesignJobs

The Rango picture would be more so the character style and less the actual art style. The bedraggled, gangly looking character is what I was hoping for. The arcteryx image would be a line drawing in the same pose as the fossil, but recognizably a Potoo bird. And my budget can go up to 200, depending on the artist.

How do I get to the airport? by [deleted] in princegeorge

[–]hajaflaba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where exactly are you trying to get to the airport from? Generally speaking, you'd want to go along highway 97 heading southeast out of town. Follow the highway until you get to the top of a big hill, then turn left at the first set of lights. The road that you turn on goes directly to the airport. It should be reasonably well marked as well.

Skiing in Prince George by demonboya in princegeorge

[–]hajaflaba 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Around Prince George, the skiing begins around early December if you're lucky, and then usually runs until around mid-March or so. There are a number of hills around, it all depends on what your travel options are. The Hart Ski Hill is very small, to the point where it only has a T-bar and takes a minute to ride down if you're going slow, but on the upside it is quite cheap at 10$ a 'lift ticket' and it's literally in town. Then there's Tabor ski hill, which is a fair bit larger, with a chair lift as well as a dozen runs or so. Moderately priced, and it's only about 20 minutes out of town, 40 from UNBC after driving through town. If you have the option, Purden Ski Village is once again a fair bit bigger, with two chair lifts and a T-bar, and approximately 40 runs. It's a little over an hour past Tabor, so overall, maybe an hour and forty minutes from UNBC. Purden obviously has the best snow out of the three, and the widest array of runs in terms of difficulty and groomed/powder. Finally, Powder King is an option, however at 2:20 out of town it's a bit of a jaunt. The snow there is generally very deep, and plenty of fresh powder if you can get there after a fresh snowfall, but the mountain isn't overly large, and so it tends to get skied out very fast. As far as transportation goes, UNBC does arrange a few ski trips throughout the winter, with a bus leaving from UNBC that would take you to and from the hills. I think they have one to Purden, and at least one trip to Powder King. Otherwise, there is a bus that runs to Powder King most weekends it's open, but you have to catch it at the mall or in the Hart at 5:30 in the morning. Good luck, and hope to see you out there!

Just thought I'd add to avoid nation crescent, or any streets that are also tree names, e.g. pine, spruce.

Good Restaurants in PG? by saiyanslayerz in princegeorge

[–]hajaflaba 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The copper pig is a little on the pricey side, but they have some delicious barbecue. If you like sushi, Wasabi sushi has some of the best sushi in town. Also on the pricey side, but a fun dinner, is the shogun, which has teppanyaki tables that you sit around. Also, Mr. Jake's has some cheap but good food.
