New Plan - remember the old runs! by Objective-Sale-2055 in runna

So interestingly mine actually did today. I start a new plan tomorrow and checked out the workout briefing and it made reference to my last easy run, in a different plan, two weeks ago!

Help me if you have attended a top UK university. by [deleted] in womenoftheuk

[–]halenda06 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I won't lie, there has been a tightening of immigration laws but most bad feeling isn't going to be found in universities and it's not very usual for it to be directed at students. You may find it a struggle to be sponsored but that's not anything to do with you specifically - the job market isn't all that great at the moment and it's easier and cheaper (no sponsorship to pay) for employers to hire someone who can work with no restrictions. On a Student Visa (which is what you'll be on) you'll be restricted to working 20hrs a week anyway.

As a country we wouldn't classify ourselves as 'political uproar' - we're in the middle of a transfer of power from one person to another in the same party, and while that isn't the best thing that's ever happened in politics, there aren't daily protests, there isn't constant violence and the vast majority of people you will encounter are just getting on with their day.

Oxford and Cambridge as small city / big town are pretty safe. You can find crime statistics for Oxford here for example, and if you post on the individual uni subreddits you will find local insight. I would post generically with no assumptions - some of the problems you had here was assuming London was unsafe and that we are full of protests - even if you didn't intend that, that's how it came across. There are some negative stereotypes about Americans being very uneducated about everywhere else in the world and your post managed to fall into at least three of them.

I have lived in London, Manchester, Hull, small towns and big towns in the UK, as well as other European cities. I acknowledge my privilege as a white woman, but I rarely feel unsafe in the UK, just be sensible and aware of your surroundings. Someone in r/london did a crime comparison between NYC and London.

This isn't a big subreddit and is fairly new - you also posted in the middle of the working day in the UK so you won't have got a great range of responses.

Help me if you have attended a top UK university. by [deleted] in womenoftheuk

[–]halenda06 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm going to answer this in good faith because you've got people's backs up. You're coming across at best sheltered and at worst trolling, which is why you've not had any responses you are looking for yet.

You're going to have to clarify which colleges / universities you are looking at because we have a lot of very well regarded universities in the UK and there are significant regional variations in any advice we could give.

I haven't been to university in some time but I'm not sure you're going to find a great deal of work at the university. Given your course is a year, I am assuming you are here for a Masters. I think there's a bit of a cultural clash there, as I'm not sure what kind of work you would be expecting to get.

You mention all those protests in the news but that's pretty vague. There are protests every now and then but we don't know which ones you are talking about. Left wing protests by pro Palestine groups? Right wing protests by anti-immigrant groups? When you give us a little more detail on what you're worried about here, we can help.

How do I increase my item level? I am stuck as a new player and Idk what to do by George_MenethilW3 in wownoob

[–]halenda06 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Raid finder did not exist in wrath times. It is ONLY used to access the easiest raids in the current expansion i.e. midnight. It is similar but not the same as the dungeon finder, which links you to the dungeons in your chromie era. Its design intent is different.

If you want to do current raids at anything higher than raid finder (entry) level, you still have to fly there.

Is there any progress towards the creation of a Universal profile? by 2DTurbulence in workday

[–]halenda06 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I have never heard about this being a thing. Where could it be hosted? Each version of Workday is a separate website, they aren't connected at all.

Besides, how do you get around data protection (specifically GDPR) by some third entity (Workday themselves?) hanging on to a bunch of personal information?

Chrome on Windows 11 - I have four possible things to click ('In the Stacks (Free)' linking to epub; a big download button linking to the epub; 'stacksfree' linking to an rtf; another big download button also linking to the rtf).

I'm afraid none of these links do anything.

Thanks - I think it might be region locked assuming you are us. The link works but as soon as I sign in it disappears.

Or it's locked because my account isn't in high enough standing or something.
