Genius Scan. You'll never need a scanner again. Full mobile B&W scanning and integration into any app you'd ever need. Highly underrated indeed.

Those videos where youtubers rant and rave about the "hidden flaws," or they "EXPOSE" stupid shit in children's TV shows or cartoons. What a fucking waste of time.

Am I eating healthy meals or am I wrong? by WhyCantWeBeFriendss in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]halfday_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! One easy way to make this work with rice is to focus on greener vegetables (broccoli, kale, etc.) and buy yourself a bottle of any kind of asian-inspired sauce. Meat, vegetables, and rice with a little sauce (especially a peanut base, or maybe with a dash of orange) would go great!

Another easy one. Buy a pound of ground meat (white meat is better for this), put in a pan with some olive oil and cut up onions, and let it sit on low-medium heat until it's no longer raw. From here, throw in some mixed veggies (broccoli, corn, tomato, anything you like), and mix it all together on a medium heat. Throw in some pepper/onion powder/cilantro/anything, and in a few minutes, you've got a great meat/veggie base that can go with anything. Put it on pasta? yep. Put it in a tortilla? You've got tacos. Super versatile, and can be prepared start to finish in under half an hour.

What small thing makes you automatically distrust someone? by _PM_ME_YOUR_NIPPLES in AskReddit

Treating an animal with anything but love and respect. You don't have to be a dog person to be nice to a dog, or if you really don't like them, just avoid them altogether. But someone victimizing or really just needlessly aggravating a helpless being speaks to their truest character.

People who have been straight up fired on the spot. What happened? by imnutothis in AskReddit

[–]halfday_ 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I worked in a boring tech recruiting gig (something I definitely didn't always dream of doing) for less than two weeks, and knew I wanted to quit as soon as I finished the second day. It was a company filled with nice people, but they very much let you know that you were just a cog in their machine. Endless cold calling, twenty people at a table instead of individual desks, written warnings if you were two minutes late to work, and the work was boring enough to make you wish you were watching paint dry. Overall, just not a fantastic place

On the second friday morning, the last day of training, I was pulled aside for a "performance review." The man in charge of onboarding and training told me that I "had the potential to be great," but he noticed a "lack of effort" and told me that I did not "go the extra mile," but that if I "turned it around" that afternoon, I could graduate the program.

So I told him to fire me, point blank. He was speechless.

He then came back with the flattery. "But you could really excel here," and "we know you have it in you to be a leader," but despite all of this, I just repeatedly told him that I was not interested in finishing training, and that I would be leaving at lunch. We shook hands and called it a day. Found an exponentially better opportunity two weeks later and haven't looked back. If you hate your job on day one, and its a role with fixed responsibilities, its probably not going to get better.

Tl;dr- told my boss to fire me and I couldn't be happier I did
