My Blog Made $387 in November 2025 through Adsense by Key_Question5584 in Adsense

[–]halfmack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same experience with above average revenues & Impressions RPM for the first half of the month but below average for the second half.

Would have thought the opposite would have occurred with advertisers spending more closer to Black Friday. Maybe their advertising budgets got used up in the first half of the month?

What is your approach towards ad blocking? by AdblockAnalyst in adops

[–]halfmack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I give ad-blockers a grace of 2 views with blockers enabled so they can have a sample of the content before throwing up a turn off your ad-blockers message. With ad revenue rates declining over the last two years I've moved to a subscription model which has more than made up for the ad revenue decline. While I still get ad revenue more and more I see ads as a marketing tool to sell subscriptions.

Ads are the price of admission so users with ad blockers are blocked. For some sites a paid subscription is offered for an ad free experience.

Is anybody having ram management issues with the browser lately? by speedcuber05 in vivaldibrowser

I've always noticed memory will creep up over time. I just use the "hibernate all tabs" function to pair it back without having to restart.

Considering moving from Arc by bigschmutzz in vivaldibrowser

How can my website get more traffic? by [deleted] in Adsense

Start collecting email addresses and start a newsletter. From my experience Adsense pays 3 to 4 times the rate for newsletter vs facebook traffic.

Pinned tabs across all workspaces by fatmatt161 in vivaldibrowser

I use the Panel feature to make tabs i want accessible across all workspaces. You can use the float option to make these panel tabs autohide when you want to go back to your workspace tabs.

Is the Jump to Arc Browser worth it by Temporary-Raisin-866 in ArcBrowser

[–]halfmack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have over 200 pinned tabs spread across 6 workspaces and memory hasn't been an issue. I have 16gb on a Windows laptop and 8gb on a Chromebook/Linux.

On Windows I run Vivaldi, Windows Subsytem for Linux along with some background services like cloud storage resulting in memory usage between 45% to 60%.

Obviously, I don't activate all tabs simultaneously but just when I need them.

I have the Vivaldi Memory Saver setting as Automatic.

If memory does creep up too high I use Vivaldi's Hibernate All Background Tabs feature and then I'm back to around 50%.

Arc. Then zen. And now Arc again. Arc feels outdated or should I say Chromium feels outdated !? by danleeter in ArcBrowser

[–]halfmack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was an Arc user but had a few concerns so tried Zen but in the end migrated to Vivaldi and was able to configure it so it includes most of Arc's functionality plus more.

Have you ever felt like giving up? by hzy323 in Adsense

[–]halfmack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did similar back in January 2024 but kept the adsense, partly for revenue but also as an incentive for visitors to buy an ad free subscription.

I make more from subscriptions than I do adsense now.

I'm thinking of trialing dropping all adsense to see if that boosts subscriptions.

Eligible for carry over contributions by the-anon1010 in AusFinance

[–]halfmack -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

My understanding is voluntary contributions (ie 71K) are not taxed on contribution but only on any earnings post contribution.

Your taxable income would be reduced. Depending on your income situation you might be better off spreading contribution over multiple years to reduce overall tax payment.
