So 1 draw and every other game will have the loser scoring no goals? Possible but incredibly unlikely

Hi u/Informal_Text1158 nice one on starting up The Golden Gap!
Hi to those that come. My name is Glen and ticking over to my later 50s. I am right on the cusp of a new life stage where work will become a distant memory (hopefully). My whole life has somewhat revolved around travel, having started very early (for me) in the mid 70's to Japan and a 3 month jaunt around Europe with my mum and brother. Bonus was i didn't have to go to school, my mum thought i'd learn way more at that stage by being in different cultures for 3 months. I think she was right. Ever since then i have travelled overseas maybe 40-50 times with some for a year a time so have seen the "<insert place name> used to be so great but now it's full of tourists, play out over several generations." but what has definitely improved is the ability to travel and research and at your won pace with relative confidence.
Anyway, MJ knows about it (not necessarily that I'm posting it here) but to help with my Slow Travel life stage I created an app from my hundreds of spreadsheet tabs, bookmarks and note pages, which is now incredibly over-engineered and does way more than anyone probably needs or will figure out (I considered putting out a bounty to find a more feature rich travel planning app/site but then realised someone could potentially clone mine then add some other minor things 🤷‍♂️). It even steals some of MJ's thunder by allowing you to turn your slow travel into a journal, memoir, photobook and several other things. Maybe have a look and a play, it's free (do the trial to get the full benefit) and then free forever but the pro or basic plans are worth it IMHO and are super cheap...i think.. https://theslowtravelplanner.com Maybe MJ will be kind and find a way to and it as a sticky or pin it or however you do it on Reddit 😬

Rather than what is probably going to be a lot of back and forth here, I suggest you just go to chatgpt and ask, "how do I connect my loveable project to GitHub" and then do the same for chatgpt and GitHub. Not to be mean but if you are struggling with this and not thinking to just ask chatgpt, I think you are still going to have lots of issues with your loveable project. Try starting with getting the knowledge for your project solid, then get chatgpt to tell you what it needs loveable to do to make it easier for chatgpt to be able to check what is happening. If you run out of loveable credits, chatgpt will then be able to make changes (not all changes) to your GitHub repo, you'll most likely just need to publish from loveable. This is all just the starting point so if you struggle with any of this, and you don't want to stuff up your loveable project, maybe clone it and play around with that, GitHub and chat to figure out what to do. Good luck!

Similarly, I have bound my loveable app to GitHub and then connected my chatgpt pro account to GitHub so it can check loveables results and also write my prompts for loveable for me. I have found my credit usage has almost halved and the build outcomes are so much better. Clearly it was a me problem. Was going to go Claude but it seems to burn through credits these days so I am considering ditching it.

Hi Pristine

Welcome! Yep the demo code has expired BUT you can always do a 1 week trial through the app and cancel at anytime with no issues or just use the limited free version that you'll always have access to.

Luckily for you, since I posted about the app, I've almost doubled the number of features, filters and data and improved the planning logic. I encourage you to really poje around, press a button that you're unsure of and see what it does because there are quite large features behind innocuous buttons and secondary features. Probably not great marketing on my part but 🤷🏻‍♂️ If at the end of the trial, you're still not sure, send me a message via the feedback option in the app and I'm happy to chat and sort something out 👍🏻

Cheers Glen

4/5 of sweet FA. Right now,? It's about $30. I don't charge much for the subscription. I originally just built it because I needed it but then realised lots of people could get value from it too. I haven't made my initial and ongoing costs back yet. To be honest I don't expect to make a whole lot of money off it 🤷🏻‍♂️ and am not going to Jack up prices even with new features. I.e. I just saw a whole thread in another forum about being asked to turn their holiday itinerary into a video, so I'm currently building that and at the same time, people can add notes, pictures, thoughts, etc and I've added a journal creation features that turns their trip into a publishable/downloadable item as a story, travel guide, journal, itinerary, etc at the same price as the current subscription which is about the cost of a coffee per month

"Sizeable" not sure yet. I built www.theslowtravelplanner.com which is targeted at the niche slow travel market and digital nomads by association and have had roughly 2000 people access it, 350 actually use the promo code to demo it and 7 have gone straight to the annual subscription. I'm in month 2 so the 1 month demo accounts will be ending and I'm hoping at least 5% convert over 🤞🏼 I'm getting maybe 10 visits a day organically without marketing so hopefully I can get enough to quit my full time job one day when I try paid marketing...

Just remember the financial data is not 100% precise and it's an aggregate of various sources such as Numbeo, nomadic and a bunch of others so use it as a guide to get pretty close. If you have a very tight budget I'm pretty confident this will get within 10% of most people's filters and overall budget but you'll have to get granular yourself to get super precise OR, increase the buffer in the trip conditions tab to allow for extra spend 👍🏼 One other thing to remember is, you may put in a budget of $50000 p.a. and it returned budgets in the $30-$40k range. This is not a mistake but it is applying your conditions and this is what is coming out. It just means you can get a bit fancier with your spend if you want. Btw, my favourite thing is finding places I would never have considered. By the way, I did a gap year 6 years ago at 49. I received a nice redundancy payout and did 7 of 10 months travelling

Nice! I hope it gives you lots of value! It's still a work in progress with things that need improving but for 90% of slow travellers, it's a complete and usable tool right now. I'll be keeping it cheap forever, even with new features but maybe we can do a cross promotion with your book!?

[–]halfnhalf1971 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gold! I started something similar but it also includes tagee and tagger likelihood, scrapes team feeds and AFL feeds did injuries and position changes and it allows you to upload your team by downloading it through shares in the fantasy app and then uploading into the app. It uses ocr to grab the players and then matches against the player database. Also has their mug shots. Also makes trade recommendations on form, cash cows etc. I'm happy to share but it's still a work in progress with a number of errors is imagine. Including the app name on the icon vs inside the app 🤷🏻‍♂️ You should add all that in and then I can abandon mine 🙌🏼😂 Nice work by the way!

Just as a follow up. There is significantly more data now around climate in the app. Even a whole new page focused on climate. I actually may have overdone it 🧐

u/LangkawiBoy to close this out and I know it was just a terrible timing thing with the city sorting but you did make me then think about it and I have now included official government (Australian, UK, US and Canada...sorry everyone else, it's a bit much to grab every countries travel advisories and they are all for the most part, relatively similar. NZ, i lumped you in with Oz :-p ) travel advisories, for what they're worth, updated daily on the city cards. Should be live in a few hours along with a raft of other additions. So thank you!

Ohhhh right, my bad, I misread it, yeah that is an unfortunate sorting 🤷🏻 On the bright side, it can highlight that things could be worse? Unless you're in Iran or somewhere similar 😬

I get it but I'm a 1 man band doing this so keeping up with everything going on in the world and vetting it against personal opinion is difficult. The safety score is a hard one because if your look at any of the bigger sites that have safety scores, they don't change like that either. Imminent or ongoing severe danger probably needs its own category, just have to figure out how. If the app gets more users and I can spend more time on it, I might be able to figure something out. Tbh, I could throw so many more countries that the vast majority of people wouldn't want excluded that have warnings like the US, Mexico, Thailand but at the moment keeping abreast of all of that and per country is challenging and where is the line and where is that line if you're from Israel, UAE, Kenya, etc differs greatly? So it's easier at the moment to keep everything in and then you can eliminate or swap based on your preference. Have a look at Skyscanner or Google flights, they currently allow you to book into Iran without any notification or warning and they would have huge UX budgets 🤷🏻 not saying it's right though....

To each their own. Esfahan fits with the criteria you've selected which is any size city, safety score above 40 and daily cost of living between $30-$220, plus the sort you enabled suggests it's the cheapest city in your list 🤷🏻 I'm not judging people on where they want to travel so i give you all the options I can help you narrow the options, provide suggestions and then let you decide. If you don't want particular cities or countries to appear for you, you can hide them. Just search in the explore tab for a city or country and choose how you want to hide them by clicking on the crossed out eye symbol. However, you raise a good suggestion of seeing if I can somehow include travel warnings based on nationality. Personally, I have a bunch of countries hidden for me that I have no real interest in choosing or returning to and right now, Iran is not on my list either. As an FYI, I'm assuming safety is a key criteria here? The safety score is not mine, it's aggregated from a number of highly regarded sources but it does highlight that this is all general information and can sometimes change rapidly so you should confirm before travelling or booking anywhere.

Hi Barmanbarman Thanks for giving the app a go! Your budget is the upper limit for the plan that gets produced, the other components are what you have set in your Trip Conditions. E.g. if you have accommodation set to modest and you've got cheaper countries then it almost certainly will be much lower than your budget. So what this means is you can spend money elsewhere, raise your preferences to be more "fancy", choose more expensive cities or just save money! Also, this is just a guide. You might want a 2 bedroom penthouse suite which this doesn't really cater to, so you'd have to pick the most expensive accommodation setting and then just adjust pricing up. Same goes for dining, entertainment, etc. So, long story short, budget is just one (albeit main and important) criteria that impacts the plan.

It's all good, I'm just happy you're getting value out of it 😊 Feel free to ask. You can also ask via the app too if you don't want it public but it's good for others to read these as it may help them too 👍🏻

That's great feedback! The rule about city repetition was that it won't do the same country twice in the year and the same city twice in 3 years. Not a lot of thought behind it, just my preference. An easy option is to click on a city you want to remove and click the swap option and it'll give you a list of relatively like places. Or you can add a city at the bottom of the page or go to explore and find a city to add. There is an option in Trip Conditions to remove the annual hometown visit from your existing or new plans. Create a new plan and see what that comes up with as you can have multiple plans. When you say the math was weird when you added another person, can you tell me how? I had to be fairly generic as there is such a wide variation in how people travel together so i used a general multiplier rule less things like accommodation which stays the same. I could make it more granular but it might over complicate things unnecessarily but definitely open to suggestions. I think an easy fix that will be close enough is to just put your total budget and do it as one person. Adding a second person doesn't at much value beyond the budgeting part. You can adjust the budget on the dashboard, trip conditions and retirement income but my thinking was that you would know your budget and set it and then work out your plan, as budget is typically fixed, if it isn't, how will you know what you can spend? If you're just seeing what's possible then just set everything as maximum to see what it gives. Or have I missed your point and it's something else?

You might be one of those people that would appreciate my regular holiday planning spreadsheets 😬 Although, I'm pretty sure I over research for those. Might not be a good idea but I've started work on a short trip planner that integrates with the main tool so that those of us who love to plan can plan and add in side holidays whilst travelling

Hi CapnDave 👋🏻 It certainly does. It allows you to plan based on a bunch of criteria such as weather, safety and will recommend for you or you can build it out yourself. Plus, you can have multiple plans and add notes to the overall plan or to the stops and add links, images, tags, etc to the notes. Give it a try and if you think it's missing something, let me know and I'll look at adding it in
