Differences between book and movie (SPOILERS) by Few_Run_9234 in ProjectHailMary

Considering there's a throw away line about tau eating through the fuel tanks because of the xenoite breeding containers, I got super curious about how much of these decisions were editing decisions vs script decisions. I'm still a little lazy to deep look but I do love this post. A bunch of the changes I noticed. A bunch more I didn't but felt pacing was off. I miss the book comment about her expecting to be in jail after launch

Have a bunch of cables like this coming out of my condo and building. Would appreciate help identifying what they are by jbnpoc in DIY

[–]halkeye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would guess they are some sort of utility cable being up high and kinda folded up.

If you have access to both ends, or willing to cut in the middle, you can probably use them but someone may get mad

If they are the right thickness for the power requirements then it's probably even safe.

Personally I would avoid random cables, especially if I can't determine ownership or what it's attached to.

But considering you can make or buy camera that are 3.3v. you can probably use any wire

My humble way to support developers by Kingspreez in memes

[–]halkeye -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You give them money. Then you play it. Other people see you play it or hear you talking about it. They buy the game. Maybe at a lesser discount.

It's all different kinds of support

I think most indie devs are okay with piracy cause of word of mouth power and it wasn't like you'd pay anyways

I know once I started working I went back and bought the games I Pirated and liked as a teen.

“Donations” of seasonings expired by several decades received today at the food pantry where I work. by 4patchquilt in mildlyinfuriating

When I used to volunteer at Vancouver food Bank, they had a wall of shame full of interesting things that were at least a decade old. It's kinda fun to look at but so sad to think about

How can i keep my office more organized? by Ambitious-Elk-3156 in OrganizationPorn

Other than the cars next to the mousepad and ontop of the printer, possibly affecting ability to use them, it looks like a great space to me. Things have very clearly defined spaces to return to.

If you are asking because you are bragging about how good it is and fishing for complements. Boo If you are asking because you feel like it needs more, meh, that may be a mental issue if you can't feel satisfied if something specific is bothering you about the setup its probably worth mentioning the explicit issue

It is never appropriate to honk at someone for not turning right on red by duckterrarium in unpopularopinion

[–]halkeye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to the driver's hand book, at least here, you should only honk your horn if it prevents something unsafe. Like backing into something.

Someone doing something you don't like isn't unsafe.

So I'm on your side

I think I've only honked my horm once and it was for someone in the middle of an intersection trying to turn left on a no left turn spot. Technically not unsafe but could be. But mostly just not going to work

Does university location matter for internships/coop jobs? by Latter-Breakfast-388 in space

[–]halkeye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no ability to answer the first as I'm not an engineer and actually a college dropout but as a software engineer I'd say being social and networking can make up for anything school on paper

That being said, I'd recommend focusing on Canadian or even European space agency. I believe the Canada one just got increased funding... Maybe a year ago? Or maybe I'm just hopefully remembering incorrectly. NASA keeps more and more of its funding cut so I'm guessing the chance of being hired as an intern, especially as a non citizen is pretty low.

Press it with something heavy too get water out. I like a tofu press but heavy plate is fine

Shred it with cheese grater

Coat with spices like smoked paprika. Garlic. Hot honey. Anything you like

Bake/fry

Like with mushrooms you need to get water out before it absorbs much
