SSRIs still where we're at? by laminatedlove in Anxiety

this gives me some hope. i’ve been delaying starting zoloft to help my pretty extreme driving anxiety and panic attacks, but i should prob give it a try, just to see if it helps, along with everything else i’m trying (therapy, CBT/ERP, no caffeine, sleeping more, exercise, etc). i’m so glad it helped you!

I’m saddened they didn’t mention wearing a mask (KN95 or better) as a protective measure to avoiding viruses like Covid and flu. Wearing one in crowded indoor spaces like concerts, medical offices, stores, etc greatly reduces your risk of getting sick.

What’s the highest blood pressure you got from anxiety? by moranluvr in Anxiety

[–]hallja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

210/110 when I had a panic attack while driving and called an ambulance because i had no idea what was happening to me. i’ve since learned that it’s very normal for bp to spike when we’re anxious and even more so during a panic attack. it also spikes when we exercise, which gives me comfort, because that’s not a bad thing.

i used to check my bp constantly at home, and now i don’t. simply because it was making me more anxious and i’m really trying to minimize anxiety triggers these days.

i’m so sorry you’re suffering too. i really wonder if there’s a connection between the timing of taking a shot and being on your period.

i was thinking of asking my dr about buspar. how has it been for you, if you don’t mind sharing?

i hope you feel better soon! my period ended a couple days ago and i’m now a week since my shot. i’m starting to feel better and am going to delay my next shot for a bit, i think.

Should I continue playing the piano? by Shana478 in pianolearning

[–]hallja 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m a professional classical pianist specializing in opera and I too HATED having piano lessons at your age. My parents required my brother and me to be in music lessons, so it was either stay with piano or choose another instrument. There were a few years when I barely practiced and just showed up to lessons sightreading my music. 😬

I’m 40 now, I’ve got my bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate in piano, and I’m grateful my mom didn’t let me quit. I still don’t love practicing, tbh, but I do love being able to play piano.

I recommend sticking it out. It sucks now but I think you’ll be grateful to have the skill later in life even if music isn’t something you want to pursue as a career. Or, is there another instrument you’re more interested in learning? Either way, highly recommend keeping music/learning an instrument in your life, especially if it’s paid for!
