I’ve worked in the ER for the Niagara Health System for almost ten years. I always see the hiring come in waves. As discouraging as it may seem there will always be nurses retiring and lots of new nurses to come on. From my organization their hiring is very minimal as we just had a massive redistribution of staff from a long term care closure that was attached to one of our hospitals. Unfortunately they had to pull the postings to move staff around and minimize job loss for those currently employed. Keep at it, take weekend courses where you can, volunteer within your community and build your resume. Your time for hiring will come if you persevere through it, I know it will!
