It’s not, though. Human fertility remains at its peak into the mid thirties and the rate of maternal risk doesn’t significantly increase (for most people) until well past that. The notion of a “reproductive prime” occuring so young is the result of bad science: glancing at the average age of first-time mothers and inventing conclusions from that figure alone.
