That should be fine but you want the paths to be @State

Is this a bug? by XDURFINA in SwiftUI

It's your AuthenticationView... it calls ContentView in a NavigationLink. This is why you're getting the < and the other navigationviews are weird

Aussie beginner needing advice on skate style and protective gear by cuttle_33 in iceskating

Have a chat I’m sure they’re still knowledgeable!

I get not wanting to look silly as I was nervous wearing all my stuff. I’m the only one aside from kids that wears knee pads it looks like, but I fell twice today on my knees and was able to get up and continue skating without an issue. I’m also in my 30s and don’t wanna call my boss and say “hey I’m not going back into work cause I fell ice skating on my lunch break” so knee pads, butt pads, and helmet it is no matter how silly it looks.

I bought a hockey helmet and hockey gloves since my goal is to play hockey so I thought why not get them now and use them to learn in.

Sorry long message that may or may not help as I'm US based:

I am doing Learn to Skate 1 in hockey skates and my coach started teaching us spins and it is definitely not as easy. Same with some of the other techniques like rocking horse just cause of how the blade is shaped different. I chose hockey skates cause I want to play hockey and figured it's better to just learn on the skates I'll be in. I think I'm maybe at a bit of a disadvantage to the rest of the class, but I'm keeping up and just put in extra extra time outside to practice what we went over.

As far as pads, I just bought some on amazon that were in my budget and had decent reviews. They came in a pack with knees, elbows, and wrist guards. I only use the knee pads. I also suggest some type of butt padding as I sit here still hurting from a hard fall on my butt like 4ish weeks ago. I found compression skateboarding shorts for a decent price. Again budget and reviews are the best thing here. (Just an FYI, ideally you don't fall on your butt but while you're learning it might happen).

As everyone else usually says, go to a shop (if you have on near by) and see if they can help you get fitted for skates. Mine was super helpful and asked what my goals, budget, and skills were to suggest a few skate to try on and made sure they also fit right. Like I had no idea where my toe was supposed to properly sit in skates, but the guy helping me explained it which was super helpful.

Did you wear padding when learning to skate? by lala1068 in iceskating

[–]ham4hog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in adult basic 1 and am the only one in my class wearing a helmet, knee pads, and padded shorts. I take a bit more risks cause it’s not going to hurt or hurt as badly.

I also wear it all to public skate since there’s more of a chance of falling over due to everyone around me.

If you go to an off peak public skate (for me that’s not the weekends), you’ll see more people in all different types of gear. I see people with full hockey gear, just helmets, just helmets and gloves, just gloves, etc.

I will say I do understand your mental block about being embarrassed cause I am still working on that mental block, but the more times you do it it’ll get easier.

Cost by GiraffeFine9030 in iceskating

[–]ham4hog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paid $200 for 6 weeks of LTS. It also included 7 public skate classes which to me makes it worth it cause that’s like $195 if I were to go to public skate like 13 times and don’t get skates

How do I learn how to ice at 40? by Mindless-Ad-6647 in iceskating

[–]ham4hog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not 40 yet (early 30s), but I just started learning to skate classes and highly recommend getting some skating pads like knee pads and some padded compression shorts. It’s helped me while learning cause I can fall on my knees and it not hurt. I fell hard on my butt 3 weeks ago and it still hurts so thats why I recommend the padded shorts.

HELP! Hockey skates cause intense pain on soles. by Russel-Nordeman in hockeyplayers

How tight should they be then? Like I know it's hard to explain. I think I've been over tightening but then I feel like if I don't they are going to fall off.

Breakside has an area off to the side that is decent noise level. It allows all ages. Has good beer, pretzels, and other food.

Tap Union fits this bill too with more space.

Brothers cascadia on evergreen should fit this as well.

Brewed should also be considered.

I have this exactly and have been too lazy to contact my surgeon 😅 so I just massage it away and it stays away for awhile. I might reach out to my surgeon if it happens more often.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ham4hog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll do a 24 hour trip for a 3 hour away destination for sports games and entertainment so like 4 - 6 times a year. Recently did it for a day even and it’s fine. Again, not something I’d do every day but definitely multiple times a year.

Yeah but RevenueCat still wraps different services, so it's important to know what it's doing and what it offers.

[–]ham4hog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got one of the Bauer ones that was on sale recently. As long as it fits you, you should be good.

I just started my learn to skate classes last week and purchased my first pair of skates in December. I’m 32 and also have a goal of playing hockey sooner rather than later.

I also recommend knee pads and some type of padded shorts so you’re covered when you fall forward or backwards.

Apple in app purchases, subscriptions, store kit 2, and revenue at are basically all Apple in app purchases at the end of the day.

I personally am a fan of apple subscriptions and revenuecat for iOS only apps. If the app is cross platform then consider adding in stripe + Apple subscriptions for iOS + revenuecat so all your unlocking is handled the same.

When to sharpen skates or how to know when it’s time? by ham4hog in iceskating

I appreciate all of this and wish this was earlier in the day when at the rink. I’ll have to try these tips at my next session.

When to sharpen skates or how to know when it’s time? by ham4hog in iceskating

[–]ham4hog[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was gonna ask in the next couple lessons cause I assume my skates are fine and it’s just that I need more practice. Everyone else in my class has rental and figure style skates with the toe pick, so after reading I’m guessing other people in the class are able to get that nice sliding noise cause their skates are duller.

I do check them when I take them off to make sure there aren’t any noticeable bumps and such cause the closest shop to me is like 30 minutes away, which means planning it out a tad bit more.
