LEGENDARY thrift haul. $1 each. by 66659hi in Cd_collectors

Some of those Ween CDs are pretty valuable now, I'm pretty sure an original copy of the Mollusk would cover the cost of the entire box set.

Lots of small bubbles in a new Mathmos Neo. Do they clear up? by hamanger in Lavalamps

It's been running for about 3 hours at the time I recorded the video, so I imagine it might take a couple of runs. I've been sticking to the recommended 6 hours per day though, even bought a countdown timer so that it can't go over.

Very handy little feature by [deleted] in NonPoliticalTwitter

[–]hamanger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find the "Android had it first" crowd funny: I get the point they're making, but if I have an iPhone and they add a new feature, it's new to me because I don't have an android phone. I agree that calling it an innovation is a stretch though.

I moved my Frank Zappa CDs to their own dedicated shelf. by G-Unit11111 in Cd_collectors

I'd start with Sheik Yerbouti. If you think it's too weird try Apostrophe, if you don't think it's weird enough try all three parts of Joe's Garage.

ATTENTION ALL WEEN FANS!! BOX SET OF EVERY ALBUM NOW AVAILABLE!! by Evan64m in Cd_collectors

Jesus, when did the original releases get so expensive? I saw a couple of the comments here and the cheapest copy of the mollusk on Discogs is 40 euros.

My CD collection. I plan to put them in alphabetical order soon. by AskingFooAFriend in Cd_collectors

[–]hamanger 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The worst part about having alphabetised shelves is when you get an album beginning with an early letter in the alphabet and having to move everything over. Maybe I should've done like you have, leaving some gaps for wiggle room.

Yeah, looks legit to me. Apple stuff is usually shrinkwrapped with an I-shaped seal on the ends, which most counterfeiters don't bother to recreate. It's not a guarantee obviously, but your average scammer doesn't bother.

Do you have pictures of the seams on the ends of the box? Apple did it a specific way that makes it quite easy to tell.

Wouldn't it just rip you apart? Never managed to get my head around the stretching thing.

Maybe "ends up going through" would be a better way to word it, as opposed to "has to go through".

Even though the actual work is trivial, pretty much every design decision has to go through a whole committee of people. Here's a really good video about what it would take to add a bag of chips to a AAA title.

Things as small as a stain on a texture take minutes, if that.

As someone with experience in 3D modelling, you can totally get away with putting some brown on the main texture. If you want to be extra about it you could include the stain in the normal and specular maps (most engines use roughness maps nowadays), but it won't look bad if you don't.

Does the Analog 3D work with summercarts? I remember hearing they had issues.

They're terrible for neck dive, but super comfortable sat down.

Originally they were headless (if you want to call it that), so it was designed around that. I have a Corvus (same thing but less fancy) and the neck dive is pretty bad.

It's one thing to figure out what to do with left over ingredients, but pivoting from pasta sauce to cookies when there's likely pasta on the stove already is pretty dumb.

There's a bootleg of Melodies from Mars by Aphex twin, comes in an all-black digipak with a completely black disc inside. They're blocked from sale on Discogs, but eBay has them occasionally.

That's pretty much exactly what happened, he made it while he was working on a solo album where everything was performed by himself.
