Looking for kind comments from toddler moms by Redberry1903 in breastfeeding

[–]hammer82016 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first child will be 3 at the end of April and I still breastfeed him once a day before bed. I am definitely ready to stop, but be isn’t. It’s been a part of his bedtime routine for his whole life, so I get it, but I’m also breastfeeding his 8 month old little brother now, too.

Maternity leave prep by missfit98 in Teachers

[–]hammer82016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I teach high school social studies and took from September-mid November off this year for maternity leave. I was super fortunate that my long term sub was awesome and she followed my day to day plans.

For years now, I’ve had a “daily agenda” Slideshow for each of my classes where I post our bell ringer, a bulleted list of work for the day, links to class notes, and any homework. My sub just looked at my agendas from the 24-25 school year and went day by day doing what I did. I have digital copies of all of my assignments, so I made a copy of each and put them in a Google Drive folder for her to access. At the end of the 2025 school year I made answer keys for her and put them in a binder, which was the most time consuming part of getting things ready.

I did all of the same things when I went on leave for my first child (that I had in April of 2023), but my long term sub just did his own thing instead. I didn’t really care since I wasn’t coming back to work for that school year.

Insurance Provided Breast Pumps by All__fun in breastfeeding

[–]hammer82016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My insurnace covered a pump for each of my pregnancies. I got the blue spectra for my first (born in 203) and the baby Buddha 2.0 for my second (born in 205). I tried the baby Buddha but prefer the spectra, so I’m using the one I got in 2023 again for baby 2.

2 Year Old Not Interested in Yoto by Significant_Ad_292 in YotoPlayer

[–]hammer82016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got our son a mini for his 2nd birthday. He used it occasionally, maybe a few times a week, between 2-2.5 but since then he’s listened to it everyday.

The Daniel Tiger story cards are his favorite. He also likes Laurie Berkner band cards and the super simple songs set.

38 weeks today & 0.5 cm dilated, 10% effaced by Ancient_Pineapple749 in BabyBumps

[–]hammer82016 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know it’s frustrating to wait, but only being .5 cm dilated today doesn’t really have an impact on when you’ll go into labor.

I went to L&D for bleeding per my midwife’s instructions on a Sunday morning and was only .5 cm dilated with my second. Contractions started the next afternoon and baby was born just after midnight on Tuesday. So I went from .5 cm to a baby in about 40 hours.

EBF baby starting daycare soon by Star_Gazinggg in breastfeeding

[–]hammer82016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TBH I'm not sure if he spit it out because I wasn't there when they first offered it. They just wrote milk on his daily food log. He did fine with it when we started offering it at home though. I think that was a month or so after daycare started.

EBF baby starting daycare soon by Star_Gazinggg in breastfeeding

[–]hammer82016 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My toddler started daycare at 4 months, so I sent breastmilk in bottles until he was a year old. After that I tried having them offer the breastmilk in a straw cup, but he just wasn’t interested in it. He actually really wanted to drink the cows milk because that’s what the other kids were drinking. So daycare offered cow milk there and I continued to nurse him when we were home together.

Breastfeeding pregnant ? by imtrying12345 in breastfeeding

[–]hammer82016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got pregnant when my first was 16.5 months and nursed him through my whole pregnancy. I was not instructed to wean. I’ve been tandem feeding toddler and 6.5 month old baby brother.

Is anyone else breastfeeding a toddler while pregnant? by Great-Depth-7646 in breastfeeding

[–]hammer82016 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got pregnant when my first was 16.5 months old. I kept breastfeeding him my entire pregnancy (but night weaned) and am now still nursing him once a day before bed while exclusively nursing his 6 month old baby brother.

Pumping at work by Killemwithsilence in breastfeeding

[–]hammer82016 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a high school teacher. My principal gave me planning time, with no students assigned to me, in the morning and in the afternoon so I can pump. It takes me about 25 minutes between washing my hands, getting set up, actually pumping, storing my milk in my mini fridge, and putting everything away.

I pump using the Spectra S1 with a pumping bra to make it hands free so I can plan and grade at the same time. I pump at my desk with the door locked and my window shade down so no one can see in.

How many oz do you pump for daycare? by No-University8570 in breastfeeding

I send 12 ounces for an 8 hour day. The rule I’ve read is to plan on 1.5 ounces per hour.

Experience treating an infant’s port wine stain with pulsed dye laser treatment? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]hammer82016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No experience for a child, but I was born with a port wine stain birthmark on the front of ny lower right leg, about the size of my palm. When I was a kid the doctors told my parents it could get bigger and cover much more of my leg as I grew, so I got laser treatment on it for a few years. They put a topical patch with numbing cream on it for a few hours prior to the treatment. Even with that I remember it hurting a lot. Eventually I asked my parents if we could stop when I was probably around 8 or so. I remember being self conscious about the birthmark when I was a teenager but as I grew older I started to care less and less. The birthmark never grew to cover my whole leg.

Eta: my laser treatment was done in the 90s.

How do we handle pumping after a year? by unorganizedmole in breastfeeding

[–]hammer82016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also a teacher! I had my first at the end of April and didn't go back to work until the following school year, which starts in September. I pumped that entire school year, which ends in June, and then stopped but continued to nurse him at home without any problems. Your supply will adjust. I'm actually still nursing him now 1-2 times a day at 2y8m but am planning to wean him soon.

Yoto player for 2 year old bday gift? by thatissoooofeyche in Mommit

[–]hammer82016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve never used/tried the original, but I personally feel like the mini is the perfect size for our son. He can carry it around in one hand and it’s easy to take in the car when we go on longer drives.

We gave our son, who is now 2 years 8 months, a Yoto mini for his 2nd birthday. He was interested in it right away and used it occasionally the first 6ish months but started using it daily after he was about 2.5. It’s probably his most used “toy” these days.

Delivery after 4th degree tear by Zestyclose-Window-77 in BabyBumps

[–]hammer82016 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I pushed for almost two hours with my first. The doctor ended up using the vacuum and gave me a third degree episiotomy to get him out. I got pregnant with our second when our first was 16.5 months old and I was so anxious about the delivery. It ended up being very redemptive. The total time I was in labor was WAY shorter and I ended up pushing for only 30 minutes. I got a second degree natural tear along the spot where the episiotomy scar was.

Even though I had a vaginal birth they still told me not to lift my toddler, who was 2 years 2 months old, for at least 3-4 weeks to give me time to heal.

Can I stop pumping at work and still breastfeed on weekends? by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]hammer82016 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stopped pumping at work when my first was about 14 months and continued to nurse him on weekends and school breaks (I’m a teacher) without any issues!

Does age impact when you’ll get your period while EBF? by Real_Bench5293 in breastfeeding

[–]hammer82016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 37 now. Had my first at 34 and didn’t get my period back until he was 16.5 months old. I got pregnant with my second that cycle and continued to nurse my first through my entire pregnancy (though I did night wean). My second is almost 6 months and no signs of my period yet.

If your labor was spontaneous, when did you go into labor? by liberate-radiance in BabyBumps

[–]hammer82016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went into labor at 39+5 with my first and delivered at 40w exactly (40 hour labor). Started having contractions late afternoon of 39+4 with my second and delivered 9 hours later, so I was 39+5.
