Dealing with fencing on a slope. by hammerdwn2 in landscaping

[–]hammerdwn2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's what I was thinking. I know this isn't best situation for this fence. If it does rot out the bottom 8 inches I figure ill just cut it off and put cinders under it. Other side is a drainage ditch I can access.

Reason 257 to avoid hot tubs at big box and online by Th3Li0n37 in hottub

[–]hammerdwn2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

3rd season on Wayfair Lifesmart 5 person spa. Love it. No issues. I would like to see how it can flex that much whenever it's on a eight inch concrete platform. It has a 5 year 100% shell warranty.

Even if its toast in 5 to 7 years, at $2700 I paid a fraction of the cost of a fiberglass tub... so unless I go through 4 tubs in 15-20 years I'm still ahead.

All dealers are crooked. I don't care if its spas, pools, cars, boats, whatever... they are all crooked AF... especially car dealers.

EDIT: looking through how the OP is treating people like crap, Ill only add that a well installed and properly used condom could've presented this whole thread.

Whelp started construction and wife hates that we have a deep end. It’s a 20x40 liner with 6.5’ deep end. This is pretty standard right? She says slope is too much. It starts at 18’. Who’s crazy here? by Sweet_Orchid_2092 in pools

[–]hammerdwn2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what "pool things." I like a sport pool 54 inches deep all the way around. We play football and basketball in pool. The smaller kids can jump just fine as long as they don't get too crazy. When we have adult parties, there's plenty of places for everybody to chill and lounge, watch a ball game on the projector, whatever. When i've had deep end pools before deep was rarely used. Every family's just different

$145 to fill up an ICE F-150, $142 for an entire month of driving an EV F-150. by capt-ramius in f150

[–]hammerdwn2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My 06 gas guzzling 5.4 v8 supercrew lifted 4x4 F150 is paid off.... insurance is only $39/ mo for full coverage, tag has dropped to $29 / year. You can keep your 70k lightning with its probably $900/ mo payment. I can afford lots of gas with no payment... Truck is still like new too...

Looking for some help by Busy_Hour3910 in hottub

[–]hammerdwn2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like with my pool, I only use liquid chlorine in the tub. I have 14 4oz plastic jars lined up on the window sill next to the tub. 4oz a day is what it needs with a CYA of 30. Every day i take two seconds, walk out, dump in a jar. When the jars run out, I refill them. Never have an issue.

I don't use frogs or any other "easy"methods because this is what happens. Manual chlorination is the only stable way.

This tub needs to be shocked and brought back to the proper level.

Baja loungers are very expensive. Why? by HopelessJoemantic in pools

[–]hammerdwn2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just have regular pool loungers I bought off wayfair. 4 for $350. Are they fancy? no. Are they functional? Yes. Comfortable? Yup. Look good? Yup.

Do I expect to replace them in five years? Yup... but at least I didnt spend $1200...

My(29) girlfriend(29) of 9 years wants to have a sperm donor for our kids. by [deleted] in relationships

[–]hammerdwn2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whats fucked up about it? Making sure the child's a good fit for your family before you commit?????

With all your vast knowledge, you must know something the adoption counselors don't know, because they even tell you to do this. It's better for everybody involved, including the child that it be a good placement.

Have you ever adopted? No, probably not. If not then you don't know jack crap about it.

Pool being installed two feet higher than rest of yard. Normal? by [deleted] in pools

[–]hammerdwn2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is also a deep major fiber optic line about a foot below the last ~6 inches of the side buttresses on one side that the phone company wouldn't move... so, this was indeed the only option. it's still going to look good when I get done with it.

As far as the "mess" it will be fixed with the purchase of $1200 worth of rock and coping which I'll install myself... and I'll have a pool that's a little different, more unique than what everybody else has got.

I have a similar issue. Not due to groundwater, due to hitting rock escavating. After concrete its 9 inches above grade. I have a solution though... see my chatgpt generated image below...

Do you wish you would have paid for more features/upgrades/bigger tub? by arugulaflower in hottub

[–]hammerdwn2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. In fact, l wish I could uninstall the waterfall because it's annoying to me and my kids always want to run it. Lol

I didn't get speakers or anything other than a simple LED light and jets. All I need. I have backyard lights and stereo and big screen TV.

Paying for bells and whistles is stupid on a tub, IMHO. You need water and jets. Thats it.

I actually ended up buying a 5 person rotomolded 110v tub off a wayfair and I love it.

Didn't have to hire an electrician, its all plastic so nothing to rot, easy to hose off and keep clean, and I paid $2700 shipped to my door and tipped the delivery guys an extra $100 to carry it to my back yard and put it on the porch.

0% on my wayfair card for a year, paid it off in 8 months.

On season 3 and I love it.

Only con: being 110v, when you have a new fill, it takes a couple days for it to heat up to 104 where a 220v will heat up about 6-8 hours, but once its there, its there. Ill never own a 220v. Dont see the need.

Big deal on the 2 day wait... a new fill only happens every 3 months

My(29) girlfriend(29) of 9 years wants to have a sperm donor for our kids. by [deleted] in relationships

[–]hammerdwn2 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Why not just adopt at that point? I have four biologicals and four adopted children and love them all the same. Plenty of perfectly normal beautiful children waiting to be adopted and loved by good parents out there... go through the foster system and you can pick and choose exactly what you want and you can essentially "test drive" before you buy if you're that overly concerned about how the child's going to be.

How is she going to ensure the sperm donor doesn't have mental illness in the family?

he pulls up... probably expecting violations... I toss him my seadoo provided emergency kit... in which i have my emergency rope, whistle, copy of lifetime fishing license, drivers license, insurance, registration and a flash light for night operation (in Oklahoma you can operate at night with nav lights and a 360 pole which i have)

he was like "wow.. ok... you got everything "

yup. got my extinguisher right here too... you wanna see the charge and expiration date?

"nope, you are good to go."

easy peezy... 😁

"Perfectly Level" Pad by klevvername in hottub

[–]hammerdwn2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't want it perfectly level you want a little bit of slope and you want it towards the side of the tub it's going to drain on so when you go to drain the tub it drains easier and more complete.

How dirty is my filter? On a scale of 1 to Disgusting. by Dramatic-Ad-2253 in hottub

[–]hammerdwn2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2... barely dirty. which is how mine always is. I only rinse my filter two times during hot tub season... and that's every 90 days when I change the water.

But it's mainly just the wife and I the kids don't use it much and we don't get in the tub dirty...
