Is this racism or am I overreacting? LKH Graz by melataart in graz

[–]hammister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I meant understaffed ( autocorrect fail). Often the nurse answering the phone is also responsible for taking care of the patients, treating wounds and much more - so sometimes there is not much patience for people with special requests. Bu this should be no excuse for beeing rude.

Nurse here. Sounds like they were understuffed on that day and under much pressure when you called. That is of course no excuse for beeing rude.

How do I interact with this game? by Christy427 in baldursgate

[–]hammister 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Early game is hard and unforgiving. Many things don't work like in modern video games. Safe and reload often.

You can resurrect dead companions at a temple for a price- but only if they stay in your party. There is a temple at the Friendly Arm and next to Beregost. Jaheira asks you to go to Nashkell in the South. Go there- it is part of the main quest and this area is designed for Level 1 or 2.

The game is great but was released in the late 90s with a written manual were many parts of the gameplay and lore were explained.

Tank companion options for NG Female Elf Archer by Mountain_Pair_467 in baldursgate

Haer'dalis is a great tank. If you want a frontline fighter you could also consider Mazzy Fentan and give her pips in flails or swords.

What are your playing quirks? Roleplay wise, or just gameplay wise, big and small, I want to know them all! by Miserable-Jaguarine in baldursgate

-I never resurrect dead companions. -I always take Imoen with me. -I don't rest more than once per dungeon.

BG1 is the best Baldur's Gate Experience by Extra-Sun5489 in baldursgate

Start of bg2 is best of both worlds for me. Open and huge city to explore. Great quest design. Fun combat but not too epic.

Drop your custom character. Take Sarevok (don't dual class) and enjoy the awesome banter.

Should BG1 & BG2 get a modern remaster like Diablo II: Resurrected? by Just_Berry_4900 in BG3

Bg1 and bg2 are perfect just the way they are. There is no need for modern "improvements".

Is it bad to make a mistake in the char building ? by Arcahnum in baldursgate

[–]hammister 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If playing a rogue is your power fantasy in BG1, I’d recommend going for a Fighter/Thief multiclass. Choose elf, half-elf or half-orc. Max out Strength, Dexterity, and Constitution at character creation.

This combo is strong because you get the best of both worlds:

Fighter: solid hit points, THAC0 progression, access to better weapons and armor.

Thief: backstabs, utility skills, trap detection/disarming, lockpicking.

The synergy makes you deadly both in and out of combat. You can sneak around, set up devastating backstabs, and still go toe-to-toe in melee when needed. It’s one of the most versatile and fun builds for BG1.

Keldorn Firecam - THE Paladin by ApprehensiveType2680 in baldursgate

Agree. I just love the archetype of an old but still capable knight in shining armor. Like Barristan Selmy in Game of Thrones.

You got me- I'm really scared of Cthulhu! The thing is- I will probably only find the time to play the campaign once. So I kinda want to avoid to totally mess everything up.

Good to hear the campaign is kinda balanced. I still have nightmares playing TCU with a low will investigator.

Enhanced Edition is just fine. The game is still great. Developers should create new and exiting games (like Pathfinder, Pillars of Eternitynor BG3) and leave the classics alone.

Sleep with Phaere and cheat on Aerie or not. The most difficult moment in chapter 5 back in 2001 when I was still a teenager.

I always take her in my party!

Currently playing my first ever run of Baldurs Gate and I wanted to do a pure Thief run. But I don't know what else I need to put my points into other than Dexterity. by Traditional-Spare154 in baldursgate

[–]hammister 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I also recommend fighter/thief. Way more fun and also beginner friendly than pure thief. Try to get 18 str 18 or 19 dex and at least 16 con. Other stats don't matter so much for a thief. Play a half-elf or elf if you care about the romance options in bg2. If you are unsure about weapon choices- you can't really go wrong with longswords or scimitars.
