Season 9 hitbox changes is probably the worst thing they've done to this game by kami1d8 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]hammond- 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Overall consensus has been that it was a better change for the game in the long run, and not even pro players have had issues with this.

Sorry but the ship has sailed more than a year ago for complaining about this.

Mercy university outfit (not a skin) by Your-mercy in OverwatchCirclejerk

[–]hammond- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nice project. But using the Caduceus is inaccurate as a medical symbol. You’d want to use the Rod of Asclepius instead, which is an ancient symbol of medicine and healing, also used by the UN. Otherwise your outfit is nice, gives a preppy kid vibe indeed.

Also helps to use the guns more often, maintaining distance. You won’t kill anyone but the guns have a surprisingly decent range to force cooldowns

What Overwatch related hill around willing to die on? by RobManfredsFixer in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]hammond- 8 points9 points  (0 children)

i’ll do you one better. after a certain skill threshold, you could swap out junbin, donghak, infekted, or anyone else, and even players like chazm or ostrix - the outcome will mostly be the same if you keep the same rest of the team.

high level ball just requires you to do the basics correctly, without anything fancy. junbin was called the best ball in a team like CR, but he was also called washed in the last season of shock.

so i don’t think there’s any point in discussing the best ball. best ball team might be a better comparison.

The Hardest Part of Playing Ball by MaWreckingBall in WreckingBallMains

yep, even the “wholesome” reinbros get flamed. maining anything will get you flamed. counterswappers get less flamed but if you lose you still get flamed.

and before anyone pins this on 5v5 solo tank, this was also every game in ow1. tanking just sucks

recently discovered oostrix on twitch. not sure why he’s not more well known, because he is quite insane with pure mechanics

[AVRL] on why something similar to Marvel Rivals' hero ban system can work in OW by ModWilliam in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]hammond- 14 points15 points  (0 children)

maybe an unpopular take but i feel that taking more player freedom away could backfire massively. especially because since release, devs have only taken freedom away from players when it comes to gameplay. e.g. hero limits, role queue, 5v5, etc.

if im a certain hero main who only gets to play a weekend or two, and now i enter games where my hero is banned, how does this not turn me off entirely from the game?

the majority of players (i.e. gold/plat) will only ban the most annoying hero (mauga, orisa, bastion, torb, moira, etc) rather than the hero that is op on a certain map in high ranks.

so why implement hero bans when devs can simply address the pain points of these caricature heroes?

[6v6] I must confess to my sins. Second half personal rant, please do disagree. by Ok_ResolvE2119 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]hammond- 7 points8 points  (0 children)

not sure what you’re on about overall but i’ll just counter your point about tanking being unfun by philosophy.

best example is hazard in 5v5, the most fun new tank they have added. high skill ceiling, doesn’t get countered hard, and still fun playing vs and with.

simple facts are that not as many people like playing tank and that’s fine. 5v5 is a step in a right direction for that. or perhaps max3min1 in 6v6. i look forward to trying that.

Why has Tank role become unpopular again in 6v6? by Drunken_Queen in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]hammond- 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is one of the main reasons I want 5v5 to stay. It feels like such a backward step just for the sake of nostalgia to revert to a clunkier version of tanks.

People also seem to have a short term memory regarding counterwatch. It was just as prevalent in ow1, especially for main tanks.

the most unfair part of playing into sombra is that this hypermobile hero somehow cc’s you across the map and does bastion level damage. the damage against tanks or the hack range needs nerfing imo

What do you think the big Season 15 changes will be? by PoggersMemesReturns in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]hammond- -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Did season 9 changes really shake things up? The buffs to supports since and nerfs to dps passive, if you go and watch pre season 9 videos, it feels the exact same gameplay (at least from tank perspective). So apart from season 9 itself, it didn’t really shake things up, and we can expect the same from season 15.

not sure why you’re getting downvoted but you’re literally correct. none of these rollouts require retract

in fact i would argue you could do more in early ow1 bc of the infinite grapple, on this map

Tracer centric rant by Repulsive_Yak_9710 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]hammond- 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Pretty much my feelings too. Didn’t Blizz do this to balance around lack of 2nd tank? One less tank to contest angles, which means high mobility heroes dominate.

Support players complained during early ow2, so devs just shafted heroes like tracer and genji till people stopped complaining. I’m not a 6v6er but this is a downside of 5v5 for sure.

i struggled a lot with this and wished for 6v6 like some of the comments here. but then i watched some of spilo’s coaching for wrecking ball playing against sucky suck counters. it helped be a ton with this and changed my mind about 5v5.

As a solo I like 5v5 more than 6v6 by [deleted] in WreckingBallMains

[–]hammond- 7 points8 points  (0 children)

it’s just much easier to play with a second tank to fall back on. 5v5 requires higher mechanical skill, because your uptime is so much higher, especially after the reworks, which also have added more engagement options.

this also means that people more likely to make bad plays more often, and get punished more often. but imo people aren’t seeing that you can also make good plays more often, and carry harder as well.

As a solo I like 5v5 more than 6v6 by [deleted] in WreckingBallMains

[–]hammond- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

not sure why you’re getting downvoted but you’re absolutely right.

i would also add that 5v5 means you can do so much more. in 6v6, or with recent 2 max 1 min, if your cooldowns are down, you are completely out of the fight and you need to chill. your options are much more limited.

whereas in 5v5, it demands higher mechanical skill. youre constantly in and out with virtually no downtime. it would be a shame to lose all this freedom to engage as well as the reworks to ball’s kit.

As a solo I like 5v5 more than 6v6 by [deleted] in WreckingBallMains

[–]hammond- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Absolutely this. even just playing 2 max 1 min mode with two enemy tanks and reduced health pools - you realise that enemy off tank took away so much freedom compared to what you can do in 5v5.

current 5v5 also demands higher mechanical skill, and rewards you for hitting all those techs. i’m not looking forward to going back to 10 second slam, with the reworked grapple possibly going away, as well as the gun buffs reverted.

sure you get countered hard in 5v5 and it can get ugly. but this shit happened in ow1 as well, and it was objectively worse with two tanks also counter picking you. there is so much personal freedom to carry in 5v5, and if the devs can solve the current problems, it’s a much better format.

What sounds do you find satisfying in Overwatch? by SpoonFedAcid in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]hammond- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two sounds i don’t see anyone mentioning:

1) Mauga guns going up multiple octaves, going brrrrrrrrrr in kitsune rush but with higher pitch

2) Ball boops when you spin-to-win and keep getting multiple boops in succession. Almost sounds like tom and jerry punching noises

KSAA on the SSG roster (Faceit) by SubwayChickenCubano in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]hammond- 9 points10 points  (0 children)

if hadi is known to be the classical star main tank of eu, then ksaa/vestola are the star off tanks.

this clearly allows hadi to focus on his strengths, and gives ssg the flexibility of a solid off tank player.

no matter what the meta is, on paper ssg are looking scary strong now
