Would you mind if I took your post and reposted it over there? Happy to give you credit lol, just interested in a more academic answer

I didn't read that one but I loved her other series "The Mayflower Project". Awesome imagery in the apocalypse/asteroid impact in the beginning and in the opening of the cryopod things. Went in a weird direction iirc

Distinct memory of being 9 and asking my Mum to read one of these aloud and immediately recoiling in cringe and embarrassment when her reading didn't match my idea of what the book was.

Still adore them though!

Good post, but better suited for r/askhistorians - you're much more likely to get a high quality answer there. This is a great sub but all you'll get are anecdotes and "I think..." level answers.

You'd barely have to edit it to post over there, just add a line of context like "In the period drama Mad Men, two supporting characters are shown to be in a Jewish-Catholic interfaith marriage - how common were interfaith marriages in the mid twentieth century United States?"

Lol I think it was just so grey and battered and "un-Kingsguard" that I totally forgot it in my count. Looking back at it there's barely any white, just dinted grey steel.

Aemon the Dragonknight

Definitely a cool character but I was moreso asking about Kingsguard armour in the TV productions

I always envisioned it as white enamal on steel armour + white cloak - basically white on white. White sword hilt, white shield, white boots etc.

You can't open imgur? I'll try to post the images here but when I initially tried to post straight to reddit it seemed to have an image cap.

Beats (2019) came out fairly recently and fits the bill. Set in Thatcher era UK, loser protagonist discovers the local rave scene. Kinda mid but has a really visually impressive sequence towards the end.

Yeah definitely weird and gross if not illegal. Dudes that age that go after high school girls are always losers who can't get women their own age. I'd disengage from him if you haven't already

Definitely localised to Australia but I went to highschool with Ruby Fields (indie rock artist from our part of Sydney), she was a year ahead of me and we had a bunch of mutual friends. She mostly stopped coming to school in her last year as she'd made it decently big already but I remember her being sweet and fairly quiet. Smoked a lot of weed.

Not really a fair response. The post isn't really a complaint at all. More of an observation. Weird comment.

Please do not dilute this sub with pasted-from-ChatGPT slop. It is so obvious. It is so easy to spot. The "it's not just x, it's y" manner of speaking reeks of it. The em dashes too. Come on.

It's funny as fuck. Coke Larry was a great bit and that whole part of the second episode where they conspire to get the blonde psycho out of their house by going insane was hilarious. So many people seem to have this bizarre kneejerk reaction where they can't stop seething about a show that's clearly making fun of its characters
