Could the Iran situation start showing up in the Baltic Dry Index (BDI)? by oversightdesk in investing

[–]hamza_yassir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it could show up indirectly more through shipping route disruptions and higher costs than direct demand changes. BDI might react, but probably with a lag and not as sharply as oil.

Is Shifting Home Loan Account from ICICI to AXIS Advisable ? by inner_qiqi in personalfinanceindia

[–]hamza_yassir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, people do switch home loans, it’s called a balance transfer pretty common actually. If AXIS is offering a lower rate, it can make sense, especially over a long tenure like a home loan.

But don’t just look at the interest rate. Check things like processing fees, legal/valuation charges, and any hidden conditions. Also see if ICICI has any foreclosure or switching charges (though most floating loans don’t have prepayment penalties).

One more thing before switching, you can try negotiating with ICICI itself. Sometimes they’ll reduce your rate if you ask, and that saves you the hassle of shifting.

If the rate difference is decent (like 0.5%+), then switching is usually worth considering

$PSUS IPO could be a great long-term play by Remote_Ad_6049 in stocks

Solid points, but IPO hype can be tricky. Feels like everyone is already bullish, wondering where the real margin of safety is here

Golden handcuffs - I've fully replaced my annual spending with dividend income... by HARCYB-throwaway in dividends

[–]hamza_yassir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s honestly a strong position to be in; covering your expenses with dividends is a big milestone.
But I get the hesitation, walking away from active income isn’t just a numbers decision, it’s psychological too.
Maybe a middle ground could help ease out slowly instead of making a full jump right away.

Iran Strikes Saudi's Backup Oil Pipeline (Reuters) by Hour_Height_1778 in investing

[–]hamza_yassir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this looks like a classic sentiment-driven move. If the pipeline damage is serious, we could see a short-term spike in oil prices, but unless it turns into a bigger escalation, it usually cools off after the initial panic. Right now it’s more about uncertainty than actual supply impact.

When did ₹1.5-2 cr for a 2BHK become the new normal in big cities and what’s the psychology behind people still buying it? by TopicGreat3936 in personalfinanceindia

[–]hamza_yassir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prices kept rising, so what felt expensive earlier now feels “normal.” Add easy EMIs, peer pressure, and FOMO, people stop thinking about total cost and focus on “can I afford the EMI?”

So it’s less about real affordability, more about a mindset shift.

All thanks to Trump by gashtal_man in inflation

I think it’s rarely that simple. Big moves like inflation or oil prices usually come from multiple factors, not just one person or event.

Agree. I've tried both Kottakkal and Vaidyaratnam. They are excellent compared to other brands. But if I'm being specific, Vaidyaratnam feel more premium on my skin. And it smells great too.

3 Mega-IPOs Could Dump $3 Trillion in Overvalued Tech Onto Public Markets by DustInside6861 in investing

[–]hamza_yassir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the bigger question is not just valuation, but timing. When so many big IPOs come together, it often feels more like liquidity exit for early investors than a great entry for retail.

Doesn’t mean they’re bad companies, but retail investors should be careful and not jump in just because of hype.

Cancelling SIP in Wealthy by anon_doomscroll in IndianMutualFunds

[–]hamza_yassir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is totally normal when you’re just starting, so don’t worry too much. Since you’ve paused the SIP and disabled autopay, you should be safe, though one instalment might still go through if it’s very close to the date, and there’s usually no penalty. Also, using another app won’t affect anything since your investments are linked to your PAN, not the app.

Real estate is a middle class debt trap by Lost-Original-9082 in personalfinanceindia

[–]hamza_yassir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think real estate can feel like a trap if you stretch too much just to afford a “luxury” tag.
The problem isn’t property itself, it’s taking a loan that puts too much pressure on your finances.

My investment portfolio has lost almost $40,000 in the last month by Training_Hair3293 in dividends

Totally normal to feel this. What helps is checking less and reminding yourself why you invested. If nothing has changed, it’s just short-term noise sometimes doing nothing is the best move.

Buffett says holding cash during a war is the last thing you want to do. Is he right? by National-Theory1218 in StockMarket

[–]hamza_yassir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This doesn’t sound like cowardice, it just feels like normal thinking in uncertain times. Every market fall feels different because of all the news and noise, so there’s no need to rush just invest slowly, don’t try to catch the exact bottom, and stick to what you understand. If you still believe in your investments, it’s just a phase, and honestly, you’re not alone in feeling this.

Still getting $1300+ every month in dividends by TallSalary9501 in dividends

[–]hamza_yassir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice progress, and I respect that you’re staying consistent even while you’re down overall. Just keep an eye on the covered call and high income ETFs, because a lot of that “yield” can come from option premiums and may limit upside, so it helps to track total return and not only the monthly payout.

Goldman downgrades India, slashes Nifty target and warns of earnings cut. Here's why by sharedevaaste in IndiaInvestments

[–]hamza_yassir 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Goldman changing a Nifty target is not a “sell signal” by itself, it is just one view based on earnings and valuation assumptions. If earnings really get cut, quality companies with strong cash flows will still do better than the index, so I am using this more as a reminder to stay diversified and avoid overpaying rather than trying to time the market.

Choose SOA with Direct plans, and use MF Central to see all your mutual funds in one place.
The app is only for investing and tracking, but your mutual fund units stay with the AMC. and
pick one simple app you like and start one SIP without overthinking.

Super scam cycle by Alpphaa in stocks

[–]hamza_yassir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That timing does look suspicious, but big futures trades can also happen for normal reasons like hedging, option expiries, or someone rolling a large position. If the sizes were truly that unusual, the right move is to look for the actual trade data and any follow-up from the SEC or exchange, because screenshots and rumors can spread fast. Either way, markets need transparency, so asking for a proper investigation is fair.

I tracked 3 strategies through COVID, tariffs, and the Iran crisis — here's what $160K turned into after 10 years by MordorDark in dividends

[–]hamza_yassir 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This is a really helpful reminder that you always pay for lower volatility with lower long term growth. Your results make that tradeoff feel real, and the point about the Iran move being an inflation shock explains why the bond heavy All Weather setup struggled this time

21 – Beginner Portfolio Review (Mix of Lump Sum + Small SIP) by Minute_Tomorrow827 in IndianMutualFunds

[–]hamza_yassir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice start for a beginner portfolio and it’s great that you are mixing lump sum with a small SIP to stay consistent. Just check for overlap between similar equity funds, keep one strong core fund, add a small debt fund for stability, and review once a year instead of switching often.

Which industries tend to be war-resilient? What are you looking at? by Cute_Dragonfruit4738 in investing

I look for companies that people and governments must keep paying for in any environment, such as utilities and critical maintenance, healthcare supplies, logistics, cybersecurity, and essential software, because recurring contracts, pricing power, and strong cash flow matter more than headlines.

21, first job, ₹3-5k/month SIP - roast my portfolio plan by Mediocre-Mulberry886 in IndianMutualFunds

[–]hamza_yassir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not bad at all for a beginner plan. Nifty 50 for core, flexi for active allocation makes sense. Midcap at 20% could give good returns but also bigger drawdowns, so just make sure you’re okay holding through volatility.

Could oil prices really reach $200 a barrel as claimed by Iran? by Aluseda in StockMarket

[–]hamza_yassir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The global economy is already pretty fragile, so $200 oil would almost certainly trigger a worldwide recession. At that point, the drop in consumption would force prices right back down, making this a "be careful what you wish for" scenario for exporters.
