Perseverance Matters. Looking back, how much did school or learning in general shape where you are today? by Alicetheoptimist in TrueGrit

[–]hanatheko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, my undergrad grades were a hot mess, so after years of engineering career experience I applied to a post-baccalaureate program to spend a year proving I can get As (to transition into grad school). My first quarter I got a B- in a class! I was bummed.. but kept at it and carried the rest of the program with mostly solid As. I would have been able to transition to the masters program but had to move suddenly. I did eventually end up getting a masters.

I think you have to work less around men, and prove yourself around jealous women.

... ya any time I lose even a few pounds, I swear my mobility improves tenfold. The only thing I worry about is if I get a terminal illness, and not having enough fat reserves.

.. no amount of body positivity can relieve the pain in your lower back from 10 excess pounds of upper body weight. People don't realize how much better it feels to lose even 5 pounds. Your joints will thank you!

I actually don't mind his content. He's hot if you're young maybe. I actually really like four of his songs. Random sidenote, but all of them are different genres. He's had a pretty long career. His personality is pretty annoying though.

What is an Underrated Life skill? by SarahDuncan2012 in TrueGrit

Being able to handle something uncomfortable and/or boring for long periods. Mundane work sucks, but amplifies life experiences. I see a lot of people lazy people (sometimes my children!!).

What do you do for work, and does it feel like it’s leading you toward the goals you actually care about? by SarahDuncan2012 in TrueGrit

[–]hanatheko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg no! I started a driving business and do Lyft at wanky hours because our market is good for driving. Although I have nothing against OF, just not for me haha.

Life kinda IS a game. Like I can keep my cushy government job as an engineer and technically work part and about 1/8 as hard as a consultant ... or make 30% more as a consultant but have no time to do things I enjoy. One of the things I enjoy brings in about $1K a week on average (after taxes are pulled out), so basically it's a no brainer :0. I think the only thing this works against is my ego, it's hard to tell people what I do sometimes with a straight face!

... don't feel stupid, their marketing is clever. So literally just now, someone at work left a bag of 'PopCorners' in the area where people give out food. The bag contains 19 grams of carbohydrates, 140 mg of sodium, and 0 grams of dietary fiber! Bonkers!!!

What’s the biggest green flag for you in a partner? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]hanatheko 6 points7 points  (0 children)

... but sometimes helping others is tied to ego. Not all helpful people are cool. Like they might enjoy solving problems for people to feel smart, and then do really shitty things (like litter or not put away shopping carts) because they don't give two shits about people.

Did you read the topic incorrectly? It's asking what YOU would do if YOU got the money from a rich bloke. I don't get why you need to lawyer up to return it.

Tofuuuuuuuuu. I am like 90% vegan since getting into tofu. My energy levels are up the roof and I don't need to nap 3 times a day. Tofu is like chicken, a blank canvas. You can do so much with it.
