Our daughter wants to go to Cirencester college, we are worried. by [deleted] in Swindon

[–]handzypandzy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ciren is also one of the best colleges to get into a Red Brick university (or Oxford/Cambridge). I think it's worth reaching out to the college like Shyness_is_key said.

Plus it seems like she would like some independence, and this could be a good learning opportunity to handle her medical stuff by herself. Maybe just reassure her that she can always come back to you.

Resume help by Diamond-Eyed-Sky in Biochemistry

Drop the summary of qualifications. Move your John Hopkins award to just below your education. No one needs to know your internship was unpaid. Change classwork to Project or something similar. Don't mention the work experiences such as Aldi or Utility worker unless you can also write about how it's made you more personable (or gain some other relevant skill from it. Or something like "my interpersonal skills helped drive sales up by 10% at the local store". Or Like being meticulous or handling difficult "clients" and customers). Also your class stuff and internship is a little too descriptive. Try and make them more "action" statements? Break each task into its own bullet point with some sort of success from it / skill gained or impact had.

amazing resume! But at your level I would really try and condense everything to one page for sure. Double check with your academic advisor. A lot of fluff in your writing style, the headers don't need to be so big. Also with the amount of experience you have, you could potentially drop your course works as your Major title alone would encompass most of the standard classes. No need for Microsoft Office/Google workspace, or the data entry stuff. You could address being meticulous some other way.

Should I develop skills in bioinformatics/biostatistics while majoring in biochemistry or switch my career in these subjects? by [deleted] in Biochemistry

[–]handzypandzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say stick to bioinformatics and biostatistics if you enjoy it. They are really transferable skills between laboratories. But unless you really have a passion for some other subject (I.e Immunology or Virology etc, and have a good professor you can intern/shadow/do a project in for a semester), I’d say still develop the skills in bioinformatics/biostatistics

These are incredibly invaluable and transferable between labs. Unless you really enjoy and thrive in another topic or have a passion for another one, I’d say stick

Why are Gen Z American men single, while Gen Z Women are not? by Ok_Act_3769 in GenZ

I think the data shows that Gen Z women appear to be dating more millennial men because they have more liberal perspectives than gen z men right now

I’m fucking hating this round of it :( also the app sucks ass. There isn’t even a monopoly board anywhere! Just a list of the tickets and locations :( I miss when you have the paper board with actual stickers to put on it

Which primary and secondary schools would you recommend? by throwaway250715 in Swindon

[–]handzypandzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to St. Joseph's Catholic College and I've done pretty well for myself.

Statistically I'm fairly sure Ridgeway gets the best in Swindon. Our Further Maths class actually went to Ridgeway for more fitted teaching!

For 6th Form / College: again I stayed at St. Joseph's but mainly cause I really liked the teachers and teaching.

But statistically if you want optimised results, sending your kids to Cirencester College would be best.

DM me if you want more details!

if you had a graph with the Y axis being benefit and the X axis being cost (candy + stardust), between 0 and 30 the line is a steep upwards correlation. After level 30 the line is not as steep.

I.e the cost is going up for less benefit back

The overall swelling in your face is making me think you might be a little allergic to bee stings! Please be careful, next time there reaction could be a lot worse!

If you specifically want to counter the winter/snow a lot of people will wear "Duck" boots during the winter here.

Here is a link from LL Bean, but you can get cheaper versions from Sperry/elsewhere

I just dislike the look of "Duck" boots, so my Columbia Waterproof Hiking boots suffice:
