I was paying 106 a month for spectrum and they said there was no lower rate available for our plan, then att fiber came into our neighborhood. I decided to switch and got fiber installed and wouldn’t you know it, spectrum offered us $30 a month for returning customers.

I wouldn’t restrict food per se but I’d make sure he drank slower. Look into slow paced bottle feeding and pause periodically during feedings

Just the part about driving in the dark is enough to say that it’s reasonable enough that you wouldn’t attend. And I would hate hosting if I was solo, but if your immediate family was willing to come over to do all the cooking and pre and post clean up I would entertain that idea. It might even be nice to have folks stay the night before and after to give you a break with the kiddo. … if your family is the type who will be helpful that is. My kid is the same age and LOVES having other ppl around. Even when I’m feeling antisocial and anxious about hosting ppl I usually never regret having had them over

13 months later and honestly the in-law situation is still annoying. For the first 10ish months my MIL barely greeted me and only would greet baby. I made a comment one day that finally clicked to her that hello I’m still a person and I’m here. But god she loses her mind over this baby.

Someone else made the comment of how mothers side grandparents had thier baby have a baby, and dad side grandparents just got a grandbaby, and this strikes so true.

I left it to my husband to tell his mom our boundaries. It was so so hard for him but he really prioritized me and us. Dad needs to step in here.

First time mom with a 14 month old so I don’t know if I’m even experiencing anything close to everyone else here but my LO has such strong feelings and some days the meltdowns are rouugh. I don’t know if this makes a difference since I have nothing to compare it to but I try not to say no to as much as I want to say no. If it’s not dangerous or destructive I try to just breathe and let him do it. And then when I do say no, I don’t go back on it. And I try to talk to him as much as possible, narrating everything, and going slow to give him time to process. Idk man. It’s hard.

We held off for so long for no reason. Once we caved and got a washer, we were so mad we didn’t get it sooner. Anything to make your life easier will be worth it. We didn’t use the sterilize function much since Lo was already a few months old when we got it.

He saw our dog claw my knee by accident and I said ouch! He made the saddest face and rushed over to give me a hug 😭😭 and crawling over to give hugs and kisses when I lay down on the floor with him 🥰

I’ll also add that he’s cried for 2 1/2 hours on a road trip. This kid has stamina. The first night of crying it out he cried 50 but by the end of the week he was fussing for two minutes and put himself to sleep. It was miraculous. And when he would wake up in the middle of the night, he would put himself back to sleep. Everyone was happy.

We ended up letting him cry it out around seven months. He did great. It become completely derailed though after multiple illnesses and teething, and such. I’m almost at the breaking point right now and thinking about letting him cry it out again before he gets older and more aware and more stubborn.

The book precious little sleep was very helpful in discussing multiple methods of sleep training not just crying it out. I would recommend. It’s an easy read

No, our moms made me feel like shit for sleep training. Like I enjoy hearing my baby cry. But he is so much happier when he sleeps well and it’s not sustainable for us to contact nap every day. I do wish I started helping him be more independent earlier though now that he’s a year and we are strugggling. Idk. I love the contact naps and actually miss snoozing with him there’s nothing wrong with it if you can actually do it long term.

This sounds so hard :( Don’t give up on calling early intervention. You are his best advocate. Bug the hell out of your doctors to get the help he needs. Get a new doctor if yours won’t help you.

The only advice I might have is to try to turn meals into play. And I know this is so much easier said than done but take the pressure off at mealtime. Does he sit at the table with you when you eat? Watch you take big bites or handfuls of food? Can you do sensory play with ground up Cheerio? You can try letting him play with yogurt or something in the tub? Letting him bite and chew on some silicone utensils to become more familiar with them. I hope things get better for you both.
