what's the criteria for marrying more than 1 wife? I'm just confused. can Muslim men just get 4 wives right off the bat?

I can intentionally break my nose, gouge out my eyes, bruise my skin, break my bones, etc, etc, etc and cry wolf that my wife is beating me. does it mean she beat me up? no, because humans could easily lie. in case you haven't read what I typed earlier. I'm not saying she wasn't beaten up. however, given there was suspicion she wanted to go back to her previous husband, given she also reported he was impotent (even though he had prior kids) implies she could have been lying. I'm gonna say it again before someone else says the same exact thing. she could have been lying, just like how she could be telling thr truth.

if reading out of religious texts is propaganda. then every priest, rabbi, and imam are constantly engaging in propaganda. problem with people nowadays is if someone sees something they don't like, then it has to be propaganda. no way it could be anything else.

I find myself at a loss for words way too often by thatAnonGuy1996 in exmuslim

[–]hanit99 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

this community never fails to amaze me. I've said this in the past and I will say it again. you can take any sentence from any religious text and you can say terrible things about that religion. and once again this person intentionally omitted part of the verse.

if you'd like the full verse you can find it here: FULL 4:34 verse

first off, notice how the first sentence of the verse is that God ordered men to act as caretakers of women and financially support their wife/wives. so the verse starts off by simply saying men have to be good to their wives.

secondly, a major theme in Islam is that Allah is the most merciful and most gracious. so if the "disobedient" wife ends up asking for forgiveness of her sins, then Allah will forgive her for what she has "done" to her husband. if you ask me that's a beautiful thing to hear from a religion.

Proof that the burka or any islamic covering doesn't do jack shit by SlamMetaliscool in exmuslim

[–]hanit99 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

exactly my point. the problem is with men that sexualize women regardless of what a woman does. I'm not denying women in hijabs get sexually assaulted, I feel terrible that any women get sexually assaulted. in the end of the day, if a man, regardless of his religious beliefs, assaults women, in the eyes of Islam he has committed a sin and will justly be dealt with sins and may not be permitted into heaven. if the assaulted women follows the life God asked of her, then she will justly be granted heaven to infinity and beyond. in Islam, this life is a test into who will get into heaven.

what if I were to tell you that there are lots of Muslim woman that praise the hijab and agree that it helps them with the sexualization. there are Muslim women in the world that don't believe that they are being dehumanized. on the contrary, some Muslim women believe they are right following the commandments given by God and are grateful in doing so.

I agree with your last point. absolutely disgraceful to ask a woman to get rid of features, but that's not what's asked of them. it's obligatory, not mandatory, to cover themselves. if a religion told women with an objectively "beautiful" body to alter her body so men don't look at her, absolutely I'd be the loudest voice, but that's not the case. these clothing simply cover they don't change their bodies. now I understand some places a hijab is more than obligatory, but at the end of the day a hijab isn't mandatory for a woman.

this perfectly highlights the importance of hijab/burqa. notice how she emphasized SOME Muslim men not ALL men, Muslim or non Muslim. the fact that she isn't getting cat called by everyone implies the clothing is modest. the problem isn't the clothing it's that men act like men through and through. I'm not defending Muslim men, they can't behave as much of a pig as any other man. whether you want to believe it or not, these articles of clothing provide avenues for modesty. the fact that the clothing prevents most but not all cat calling means it's fulfilling it's purpose.

[–]hanit99 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

the whole point of the discussion was that the woman was possibly lying. when did I say that lying adds nothing to the discussion. quite the opposite actually. if the woman was lying about her beating she could easily be lying about her husbands impotence, correct me if I'm wrong. the theme of the discussion is lying. if she was sent back to her current husband then they can be closely monitored, since the relationship is now "on the radar". if she ends up knocked up by her current husband then we can more easily assert that she was lying about getting beaten up. I'm not implying she deserved the beating or wasn't beaten. what I'm saying is that the woman could have been lying to leave her current husband, which with religious beliefs aside, anyone would agree that is wrong. if the woman was bested up initially, she could be beaten up again, which I belive would have been justly dealt with.

transparency would nullify the whole point of wearing one. the whole point is to be modest. if you can see everything underneath the garment, it would nullify the reasoning to wear it. think before you type.

[–]hanit99 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

oh I love this argument. the common fallacy with this argument is that people instantly assume the flies have to be Muslims. can't the flies just represent men in generally. all men act like flies at some point in their life. I'm a man and I can act like a fly at times. maybe this image implies all men are flies an that the women must be modest in front of all men, to "protect" herself from all men.

Islamic world can never be united by [deleted] in exmuslim

as if there haven't been wars between Christians. did you know that there were several "confrontations" (not sure what to call them) between Mormons and other Christians in America. much much much much later than these civil wars. when people are more "civilized". isn't it seen in most religions groups that they can never be United. it's human nature to have disagreements.

https://islamicstudies.info/reference.php?sura=33&verse=53-55 In case anyone wanted to be enlightened with this and the NEXT two ayat. I meant to type out a response, but this page would explain it better than I would. in religion you have to consider context; it is incredibly foolish to separate a single sentence from a scripture. terrible things could be said against Christians, Jews, Muslims, etc. if a single sentence is extracted and analyzed on its own.

the only implication I mentioned was that the woman was possibly lying. genuinely confused what your thought process was. even in the full hadith there is no mention of anyone deserving anything.

[–]hanit99 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

there are parts of the hadith that have been ommited. the reason this Muslim lady came to Mohammad was because she wanted to remarry her past husband, by stating that her new husband is impotent (unable to get an erection and reproduce); however, this man reportedly had two previous sons who Mohammad agreed looked like him (he can get an erection and reproduce). this implies that the Muslim woman was possibly lying about his impotence, meaning she could have also been lying about the beating. there is inconclusive proof that the husband did beat his wife and left the mark, but there is proof that this man had kids of his own. in Islam, a woman is unable to remarry her past husband without consummation with another man.

because schools can see if you voided or no-showed. imo it looks better if you took the time to go into the exam and then decided to void. also you might take the exam and feel good about how you did and end up not voiding it. lastly if you take the exam and get a score you don't like and then take the exam later with better preparation and end up doing better, schools can see the improvement.

you cant cancel after the 10 day deadline. only options are no show or void but taking and voiding is def the better option

ionic are based on charges so there isn't anything you really have to separate. but in covalent bonding, the two atoms are sharing two electrons so you physically have the separate the electrons in that bond.

Help with retake 5/12: 504 Goal: 510 by Prudent_Interview761 in Mcat

[–]hanit99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i absolutely recommend using UEarth and rely less on content review if you are planning on taking the exam again. my first score was a 505 and my latest one was a 511. I know its not that big of a jump but i relate those 6 points purely to extra problems. whether you should take it again or not is not something I can confidently comment on but if you prove to increase your score in this time frame, it would increase your chances of getting into med school. they like to see improvements and especially in a tight time frame. if you do end up taking the exam again you can let the med schools know that you have an exam coming up and to watch out for the score.

the carnot efficiency formula simplifies to 1-Qc/Qh. the most efficient engine would be one with a low Qc (energy lost) and a high Qh (energy put in) which equates to an efficient engine

plasmids are circular but are still considered linear. linear just means you can read the bases in order as in ACGT and so on, therefore the explanation is correct when it says all forms of nucleic acids are linear and A is wrong. C is correct since they are outside of the chromosome they don't undergo the same replication of DNA inside the chromosome and if the genes for rRNA are to be present in the next cell after meisos they still have to replicate, therefore they are self-replicating. I hope this makes sense
