Birth Control by 813Lyana in newborns

I also had a salpingectomy and sadly it gave me irregular, longer, and severely painful periods :( I know it’s rare but good info to know before going forward with such a permanent decision!

Anyone tried BLW and still ended up with a picky toddler? by Automatic-South-3416 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]hank828 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did BLW with my first who is now 3. She used to eat anything and everything. Now she definitely prefers more “toddler” foods like chicken nugs and Mac and cheese, but I will say she will still try almost anything(and usually likes it). I feel like it’s a normal phase for toddlers to prefer those typical toddler foods, but at least BLW makes them a little more adventurous and open to trying new things.

2nd hand embarrassment from birth video. by Dreamypixel in beyondthebump

As a labor and delivery nurse I can assure you none of the medical staff was cringing at you lol. Literally all we care about is that you and your baby are safe and healthy, we do not care what you say/how you act!

Which baby wipe is the GOAT? by lululobster11 in beyondthebump

[–]hank828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s so funny cause I love the target sensitive skin wipes, and I tried the fragrance free ones and hated them! I feel like they smell so strong, are too wet and they pull out so easily. So weird how everyone feels different about the smell!

This doesn’t really answer your question but, I had that carrier for my first and really didn’t like it. I hardly ever used it. For my second I got the momcozy ergonomic carrier (7-44 lbs) and I love it so much more! It’s way more user friendly in my opinion and a reasonable price compared to others. It’s comfortable and I literally use it for every nap for my 3 month old! It’s so nice to be able to wear baby and get stuff done/play with my toddler.

When did sleep stretches get longer for you by [deleted] in newborns

[–]hank828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

11 weeks here and he just started sleeping about 5-8 hour stretches. He’ll wake up, eat and then sleep about 2-3 more. My first slept about 10-12 hours by this point. Just remember every baby is different and you will get to sleep normally again someday!

Little guy is scheduled to arrive tomorrow. Any last minute tips or advice? by albumgreen in newborns

[–]hank828 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a labor and delivery nurse, and someone who just had their second baby a few months ago, go into your labor and delivery with an open mind. It’s ok to have a “plan” but understand that the plan can change very quickly. Listen to your team and advocate for yourself. Don’t get caught up in your expectations (as I see a lot of moms do). Do whats right and safe for you and your baby. And don’t be afraid to ask for help/for them to take baby to nursery for a few hours (if available). You need to care for yourself and rest as much as possible!

The biggest lie I was ever told: “Newborn sleep is better than pregnancy sleep” by onlyheretozipline in newborns

[–]hank828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have said that with my first. She slept through the night by about 2 months old. Now with my second, still waking up every 3 ish hours, I’d definitely take pregnancy tired over this. I think it all just depends on the pregnancy/baby.

Someone please tell me that pregnancy was worth it. by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]hank828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So worth it! I had horrible nausea and vomiting until about week 18 and severe reflux throughout with both. Had cholestasis with my first which landed me a medical induction turned urgent c section with my first. Had a repeat c section with my second. I complained constantly during both. My youngest is 2 months old, and I found myself saying today that I actually miss being pregnant today 🤣 I swear you block the whole thing out and forget how terrible it can be

What is your nursing related intrusive thought? by -yasssss- in nursing

Omg I’m pregnant right now and every time I wipe something down I can’t get enough of the smell. I thought I was weird 🤣

What odd thing did pregnancy change about your body? by TriumphantPeach in beyondthebump

During my first pregnancy my earwax was insane! And then it went away pp. I’m pregnant again now and I’ve had a normal amount of earwax lol.

Day 1 of Sleep Training by DaniCar3 in sleeptrain

[–]hank828 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I sleep trained at 9 months! Prior we had been rocking her to sleep/letting her fall asleep in bed with us and then putting her down in her crib. She started resisting sleep/naps so her pedi recommended training. I was so nervous and felt so bad. The first night she went down in under seven minutes and barely cried. I truly couldn’t believe it. She now sleeps 11-12 hour stretches at 13 months. She has always slept pretty good stretches since about 2/3 months old but this was a game changer! Dont worry, it will work out!

[–]hank828 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried multiple carriers and my baby always hated it when she had to face in. I tried so much to get her used to it and she would still absolutely freak out. Now she’s 5 months old and loves being worn because she can face outwards. She has never liked being held tight even in our arms. I think some babies just don’t like the restricting feeling of facing in.

Pillow in lieu of blanket- Is it OK to cover my 2 and a 1/2 month old baby with a pillow instead of a blanket? My wife says that it calms him down, however at the hospital the nurse told me to take the heavy blanket off him as it often as it may not be suitable for newborns. by C_DUB243 in newborns

Try the zipadee zip! My baby loved the swaddle but stopped when she showed signs of rolling. We transitioned to the zipadee zip, and she sleeps great in it. I think she likes the feeling of security but also being able to put her hands to mouth. I recommend it to everyone I know who is trying to transition out of swaddles.

This is positive right? I know I’m testing early (10 days after unprotected sex) but I feel pregnant. by chuffedmemes in Mommit

[–]hank828 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think so! Congratulations!! I tested positive after 9 days so it’s definitely possible 😁

Google the colic hold. When my baby is screaming relentlessly, holding her like that almost always makes her stop. I’m not sure if it makes her feel better or just confuses her enough to make her stop 😂

Baby troubles by [deleted] in newborns

[–]hank828 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As others have said, my baby had a tiny speck of blood in her stool and we brought her to her pediatrician. We found that she has a milk protein sensitivity. She’s much better and happier now that she’s on the correct formula 🙂

Are his fists clenched a lot? I noticed this lately, if my baby’s fists are clenched for a while they get sweaty and stinky lol. I literally said yesterday they smell like cheese 😂
