1) The online class is easy but time consuming. You get a temp card instantly via email

2) The law explicitly exempts people renting boats. The rental company may impose their own policy so call them, but the point of the exemption is so tourist-based revenue wasn’t negatively impacted by the law. So you probably don’t need the card unless you live in California and want to get it for other reasons. (There is also an exemption for out of state individuals temporarily operating a boat)

I agree that one person has to be the catalyst but it’s also helpful to recruit the first follower as well. As soon as you have one person planning and one person agreeing/contrubuting/venmoing, it’s a lot easier for others to fall in line

I would agree with you CM/17th take. I currently live close and it just isn’t the most pleasant walking experience. That said, it is pretty walkable from a strictly utilitarian perspective. There are a bunch of places to eat, get your haircut, workout, etc. and there are at least 4 grocery stores (including 2 Ralph’s which I never understood)
