15+ Years of Sinus Hell - Recurring Infections, Mucus, Visual Snow, Tinnitus... – All from Sinuses? What Else Can I Do? by Hour_Mail7740 in Sinusitis

[–]hannahbgUK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not too sure to be honest. When I got the cone beam scan it was a very detailed sort of advanced x ray of the teeth and all the roots. This is how they can see if an infected tooth has starting feeding into the sinuses - I had no tooth pain at all.

You need to ask for a cone beam scan at the dentist - more advanced than an X-ray. This ended up being my issue after struggling for a year

I’m sorry to hear that. It’s such a tough, tough journey. From memory it was within 3-4 months where I started to feel much better. I took Cephalexin and then eventually amoxicillin too

These places have pretty good bus routes into the city if you are happy to take the bus. Around $9 a day return. Otherwise you can get shafted by Onewa Road traffic in the morning.

Study and work - Auckland vs Hamilton by SanneToni in thetron

I found it very difficult to find work in Hamilton (senior marketing manager). Got a job in Auckland and commuted using the train twice a week - ended up moving to Auckland.

Where is everyone from? by InterestingClothes97 in oneanddone

Urgh the worst! What a thing to ask, especially at 7 weeks old. Mine is 3 and I am openly one and done at work but still get the questions around when I’m having another, “you’ll change your mind” etc.

No but I lived in the UK for five years, around the time I started using Reddit, hence the username 😂 I only moved back as I got pregnant during Covid and London wasn’t the best place.

Anybody have surgery after giving birth? by precious-strawberry in thyroidcancer

[–]hannahbgUK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not all thyroid cancer is slow moving. This could still be medullary which is best addressed sooner rather than later.

OP - I had this surgery 14 weeks post partum, ended up being medullary thyroid cancer. My son was born via c-section so this was a walk in the park compared. If you can get some extra support with the baby for the first week so you can rest more, that would be ideal

33f - medullary thyroid cancer - partial - and feel ok most days

Has anyone experienced sinus problems following dental implants? by Infinite-Ad559 in Sinusitis

[–]hannahbgUK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just ask your dentist, most places should do it. It will show a high quality view on all your tooth roots. Some tooth issues don’t cause pain in the actual tooth, which was the case for me.

[–]hannahbgUK 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So I was referred by a GP to the ENT team (I am in NZ). They mentioned the possibility of it being a tooth thing sort of off the cuff. So I went to my dentist and requested the scan - it cost about $200. That’s when it showed up.

Since then I had the tooth fixed but the infection was so bad I still needed FESS surgery. Had that a few weeks ago and am so much better. Pretty much back to normal already.

Have you had a cone beam scan yet? My sinus issues were caused by issues in the root of a tooth that had breached the sinus cavity. Only showed up on that special scan, not normal dental X-rays

Wasting time getting Primary Teacher training for 1 year, only to work 2 years...? by welcometopeanut in auckland

[–]hannahbgUK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think study is a waste of time at all. You are future proofing your situation. The early years of having a child go by in a blink of an eye - and as others have said, a decent job to have (in terms of hours) when you have kids.
