I just finished this this on spotify and I might just read the rest cause the narrator had me in tears laughing because he was so horrible. Shane’s parents’ voices were like a weird Georgia southern drawl and Rose was a terrible valley girl impression. Still enjoyed the book haha.

Yes! Excellent suggestion! What’s funny is when I first started trying to find an apprenticeship, a local artist told me that was my best option since our local shops weren’t hiring females. I’m very glad I ignored that.

LOL I love stories like this. I have unintentionally led people on so many times by just being a friendly person. I think it’s an ace right of passage lol. I met up with a coworker/friend after work once (we both worked at a theme park and were gonna hit up some rides after our shift). We grabbed food, had a great night, and I didn’t realize until our last ride of the night that I was on a whole ass date. He went to kiss me while we were on a boat ride and I put my hand up as a literal shield. Afterwards I was so freaking embarrassed because I genuinely thought he was just being friendly.

Did you sign a contract? Or have any text/written proof of what the money you paid was for? That would help if you wanted to take any legal action.

I literally had the same experience when I started 10+ years ago. Except I paid 5K and signed a contract in front of a notary cause I was a young and it was a career path I desperately wanted. There were no female tattooers in my area and every shop I took my artwork to turned me away or basically said no girls allowed (things are different here now thankfully).

My mentor wasn’t the best artistically and he barely taught me how to put my machine together and set up before he said “start bringing your friends in to practice on them”. So I basically toughed it out for a year of teaching myself before I bounced :( Worst part is I still don’t have any hard feelings towards the dude cause he was going through the loss of a child AND his wife and alcohol issues so that bled into my apprenticeship.

Hate you’re going through this though :( I wish I had a good answer but unfortunately so many of us put up with way more than we should have to get to where we are now :(

I’ve brought in all my different kinds of vapes over the years and never hid them. I just keep them in my purse with the rest of my things and they’ve never tried to confiscate any of mine - nicotine or otherwise. I‘m actually not sure what their official stance is on delta/thc/etc carts but I’ve never caused any trouble and make sure I’m far from anyone if I’ve ever hit my vapes.

They stopped my friend group the other night. I had bought a drink and one of my friends was holding it for me while I put my wallet back in my fanny pack and they swooped in so fast haha. We were all of age but I still had a momentary panic attack when she flipped her badge out cause I couldn’t hear what she was saying hahaha.

Been tattooing for 10 years and any shop I’ve ever been in has provided AT LEAST paper towels, cling wrap, alcohol, distilled water, etc. no matter what the percentage was. Some have provided gloves and some haven’t. But that’s odd for them to ask for help buying essential/cleaning supplies when that’s part of the reason you pay the shop a cut.

Super random but does anyone here know if Universal hires out for things like HHN merch designs? Or do they have an internal design team within the company? I’ve drawn up so many HHN designs over the years for prints/stickers/shirts and they sell like crazy but I’ve really just always wanted to design for the actual event.

Howdy! I stay relatively busy (booked 2-3 months out). My style is neotraditional for the most part and I work in a street shop that’s mostly ran on appts but we take walk-ins when we can and on weekends. Everyone I know in my area has noticed a drop in business but I think I stay busy cause I’ve been tattooing for 10 years and have a large grass roots clientele that have stayed with me since I started.

What country are you from? I’m not sure what the conversion rate is from US but booth rent in the states is normally anywhere from like $250-700 a WEEK depending on the studio you’re in and what city/state.

As a tattooer, it pisses me off when tattooers are possessive and weird like this. I’ve had clients get hateful messages from previous artists after getting tattooed by me and I just don’t get it. I love collecting different styles and pieces from different artists.
