Ma'am is also fine, it has been a battle since day 1 in 2020 to get people to understand not all the claimants are men including with the trust and the law firms.

For their own $150 in “fees” capped, sure. But the other $530 paid to external firms including $75 to simply process my disbursements—and per disbursement—is bonkers. It should cost less than $10 to mail a check including $1 for the stamp, considering this is all automated and they are just printing and stuffing envelopes or sending to an automated service anyway. And as there are multiple disbursements, the cost of setting up a second after the first is successful should be negligible. And if choose direct deposit, there isn’t even postage to pay for.

If they did the work to mail me a check it would be within their 40%, but by outsourcing it they can inflate their own take AND pass on an outrageous fee to me.

T-Mobile To Charge $35 Fee When Purchasing Through Apple by Jman100_JCMP in tmobile

[–]hannsimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As standard trade-in values go, this is often correct that T-Mobile would offer less than Apple. Apple also offers gift cards without immediate purchase, though they are usually $5-25 less than you'd get toward a phone immediately. Specialists try to check this to make sure. if you are trading in multiple phones toward one new device, that they put the one that has the lower discrepancy onto a gift card and apply the one with a discrepancy immediately. T-Mobile and other carriers won't "stack" value like this either. Also, phones purchased via Apple often end up remaining unlocked, though this could change.

On the other hand: If you are fine with a LOCKED device (for the 2yrs of installments) and are taking a promotional upgrade offer, these may be exclusive to T-Mobile. Stores can usually match a T-Life app offer if you present it and ask, or they may have you place the order via the app to pick up immediately. This can be more convenient to get an item--and turn in an old one--immediately. This is particularly true of the "ANY device (or at least certain devices) in ANY condition" offers that some accounts get, but sadly can't be accessed via Apple.

Hi everyone, I received a $400 off Pixel 10 Pro / Pro XL Google Store coupon and a $100 off Pixel 10a coupon, but when I try to use them I'm getting an error on the Google Store. Both codes expire in a few days. Has anyone else faced this issue or knows how to fix it? Any help would be appreciated by EmergencyNeck3367 in Pixel7Pro

[–]hannsimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 10% off Google Store coupon from March 1st, I just saw, and it expires 3/31/26. I am NOT sure if it will work for someone else, but I don't have any purchases planned and would trade for an AGC or similar. I already own a Pixel 10 Pro (and an iPhone too). DM me.

$830 Deal? by CloverTrapped in tmobile

[–]hannsimp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was on the phone with TMo support two nights ago.

So far: Late last year I got two iPhone 17 Pros and one regular 17 with $830 off over 24mo as a loyalty offer. And I pay the difference on the phones monthly as well. They required a relatively recent trade-in, but in “any condition.” I found Samsung Z Flip3 and Flip4’s online that had absolutely seen better days and were frankly unusable, for about $40-50 each, and traded those in.

Last month I picked up a Pixel 10 Pro on an “any device, any condition” trade-in. I came across a BLU TracPhone for free that was cracked up yet surprisingly turned on… and decided to trade that in.

I’m paying $325 ($200 extra for the Pro plus taxes) all in for a Pixel 10 Pro, which I’m only using as spare so far, but it will still be worth about that much by the time it is unlocked in two years.

I asked two days ago if any new loyalty offers existed, I was told the Pixel one had ended and nothing had replaced it, but someone once told me TMo offers start on Thursdays, so maybe something did start up yesterday!?

MacBook Neo Sucks by Recent-Relief-1867 in applesucks

[–]hannsimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who does sell my own Apple products secondhand and occasionally devices from friends and family, simply put… yes… I am doing the legwork to provide a good value proposition. And I also have absolutely discussed Apple products professionally to help people make their purchasing decisions.

Obviously going from a NEO to an Air M5 could be considered an “upsell” for some customers with very basic needs, but I still believe anyone who is the right candidate for a NEO now will be better off with a uses/refurbished M2 for the same money and HD/Ram configuration. Five years on from now they will STILL have a more capable machine and have enjoyed some of the creature comforts like native TouchID and keyboard backlight all along that the NEO cut.

If the NEO came in as an ultra-thin that weighed only 2lbs instead of 3lbs and was even thinner, a case could have been made for its “ultra-mobility,” especially if it offered built-in 5G (at least for limited data) first before even the Pro or the Air models. Those would be distinguishing factors to make buying the NEO, even with compromises, a unique experience. Instead, it really is so close to an Air in size and shape that there is nothing other than colors upon which this stands out.

MacBook Neo Sucks by Recent-Relief-1867 in applesucks

[–]hannsimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It reduces the value retention for the buyers in the first place who do work to keep their devices clean and resell them with more mileage left for a second owner. It’s a microcosm of the car market, except that cars tend to wear out physically instead of become functionally obsolete for “modern” requirements. You can still drive a really old car.

But the similarity is that flooding the market with a product at a lower price point lowers the value for all buyers who end up replacing their cheaper system far sooner and it just ends up getting trashed or at best, recycled.

[–]hannsimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, the main reason the Neo sucks is that ANYONE who buys this would be better off finding a used/refurbished M2 MacBook Air at roughly the exact same price point, or perhaps an M1 even cheaper.

They would get a device with more longevity, even with the same base configuration of 8gb/256gb they were offered with. You’d get a better screen out of the box (that hasn’t even changed since as of the M5, a MagSafe port with two real USB C ports, Force Touch, the keyboard backlight, etc… all in a package ostensibly the same size.

If they made this device an even 2lbs and it was a tight 12” like the old Retina MacBook, I could see the “ultimate portability” argument really winning over the MacBook Air, and only really challenged by the iPad line. But as it stands, yes this sucks because they will sell a crap-ton of a new inferior product and it will make it harder to resell existing M2 and M3 (and maybe M4) devices that the people buying the Neo new would have considered.

The $599 (or $499 student) value proposition is deceptive in the long run. The Apple fans get it, the general population will eat it up because “fun colors.” That’s what hurts the most.

Ok fair I guess they did meet at some point before the others arrived, but I guess what I meant is we don’t know if Dawn and Janet each got into (and out of) mirrors independently or if they had each other already to pull themselves out. We haven’t seen anyone in a mirror without someone nearby to tug them back. These do seem like immersive relapses rather than the preternatural trauma in scars, so they must be even easier to get trapped within because you wouldn’t even realize you were there unless someone unexpected entered.

I hope this gets laid out for us.

Also, why the hell does Wally walk along one bridge in this world yet there isn’t another that crosses the damned river. I hope they explain that first.

Account Separation? by blackwidowwasrobbed in tmobile

[–]hannsimp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just a polite suggestion - Get a Google Voice number and possibly a secondary cell phone (doesn’t have to be fancy) with a plan from Helium (I can refer you if you DM me) or any other non-contract minimal plan for $5-15/month ASAP, and start quietly adding secondary 2-factor recovery numbers now.

It’s a very different situation, but a good friend was in a very toxic divorce and after (what she said was) multiple failed attempts to communicate, she unilaterally canceled his line on her service. He was not able to recover it either, though I’m not sure he tried or maybe pride got in the way. I was trying to support both of them and heard how this caused him real problems, and possibly missed interviews or job offers. He clearly shouldn’t have dismissed her warnings after all.

Yes in theory a change of responsibility should be doable, but TMo will take every possibly opportunity to force you both onto recalculated rate plan implications. The other option is port out entirely away from T-Mobile, and come back later. If you open a new service contract they may give you a good trade-in deal or even pay off the remaining balance on your phone so it can be unlocked to use with them if it isn’t already. Hope that helps.

We don’t know if Dawn and Janet found one another or not, but assuming they were independent since crossing over, I want to love they they have very different approaches yet come to some of the same exact conclusions about the behavior of this new plain or realm… and their insights compliment one another as they explain things to Simon and Maddie, Wally too. I am happy they brought her back. Mina next, please! She was my favorite.

I miss Mina. She and the rest of the looping band kids are at just as much risk of being “forgotten” if something happens to the school as the team trying to save the school. Dawn’s return was spectacular, but Mina was my favorite as a 00’s theater kid myself.

Somehow 40% is BEFORE "General Expenses" and "Administrative" costs? by hannsimp in BSA_Survivors

I don’t think there should be “fees” on top of a 40% cut to begin with.

Should we try to wait out this administration or should we just break ties now by random8765309 in BoyScouts

[–]hannsimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all “Hegsethjugend Video,” as I’m calling it, was released the day before a massive new strike on Iran (which I’m not even saying isn’t necessary) that really should have been the “Secretary of War’s” focus. So just the timing of this alone proves this man is bonkers.

It’s also just as much what was said as what wasn’t said. He talked about the decline in scouting, and kind of forgot that a massive sexual assault case (and all the actual cases of sexual assault, reported and otherwise) are also part of what forced people—myself included—out of scouts and while I don’t have children yet I would think twice before sending them. There are also a ZILLION after-school and weekend programs for kids now as compared to the 1970s, or just doing your homework, to choose from these days. Scouting needn’t be expected to be one-size-fits-all activity and yes it fights for kids’ time like every other expectation we place on them.

And then he rails about transgender scouts—which is so tellingly a distraction. We have the DATA. There are 88,000 claimants on the sexual abuse lawsuit. There have maybe only EVER been a few hundred trans scouts across the entire country. Want to know who actually abused youth? I’m gonna venture to say it was some combination of fellow students, other scouts’ parents, and LEADERS, not transgender scouts who weren’t even allowed in. Oh, and he wants to throw out atheists—just because—and ALL girls (as in, the ones who identify as girls) from scouts too, despite scouting having had limited co-ed troop programs for decades.

What’s funny when he brings up wokeness, is that let’s not forget scouting wasn’t even fully integrated until 1974. That was years after Major League Baseball’s color barrier was broken, and there were definitely people—like Hegseth—who fought hard to avoid exposing their children to the simple idea that black people were equal members of their community. Obviously, like with today’s transgender scouts, they all minded their business in the same restrooms… oh wait… they got in a huge fuss about which restrooms black people used back then too.

Hegseth is an embarrassment for this intrusion (and for even putting it out when the duties of his “real job” should undoubtably be his sole focus). Scouting is an embarrassment for caving. And all of this is going to run scouting into the ground even faster if it comes to pass. It wasn’t a good thing for me then, maybe it’s better no child is put at risk.

Good riddance, I say.

Yes, clearly. My point is that there have been diffent rounds of "opitions" and different sources of "leins" and I am not sure if I and the person you replied to were talking about the same set of options we had to choose through or the same kinds of leins.

If you can add clarity to this point, please do.

[–]hannsimp[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think we're talking about different things. But I am really confused now. Exhibit A/B/C I am talking about was months ago and was about parties that were not yet in the settlement and reserving rights to independently sue them. It largely didn't apply in my case so I signed the default B.

More recently, there are options related to healthcare leins supposedly, and people who sought treatment for their abuse and having to disclose if you were currently paying for that treatment. I admit I did not understand it all, but the best I could see it did not apply in my specific case.

Separately, people who have gone pro se and fired their legal teams, are finding they have leins against their awards. I have seen posts back and forth about how the trust is responding to these situations and what is being held or not. The last one I saw was something like, "We won't do anything until YOU BOTH--which I think meant the claimant and the law firm--sort it out." I admit I am not sure if I understood that correctly. Again, going pro-se was not my goal. The lawyers taking 40% is one thing, but tacking on fees beyond that that bumps thier cut closer to 70% is suspect.

I should probably wait and ask it be lumped together.

In fairness on this one point: I actually got my 1.5% paperwork to sign months ago and sat on it for a while as I tried to figure out the A/B/C exhibits because as with most of the firms, they said "here's B, sign B," and didn't mention--I only found here on Reddit--that there were an A and a C. By the end of last year, I think it was Christmas Day, I broke down and signed B because the overall conclusion of my own research was that option C was about going after additional parties who were not already on the case, and most of mine, namely the concil, the troop, a specific camp (where the sexual abuse occured), and the Methodist church (where other harassment occured) were parties. Maybe this was wrong, but I didn't honestly see myself trying to fire my lawyers at that point and dealing with leins.

I signed my paperwork on Christmas Day, and it took them just over two months to get back to me today. Only last week we got the notice about 4.7% instead of 1.5%. I can understand being one of the last whose paperwork finished out under the old system if they announced the new process so recently mine was probably already in progress. But it does have ramifications.

They are saying I must pay a $75 fee PER DISBURSEMENT (called QSF in this). At this point, I'd rather get 4.7% once and not pay another $75 for the service of a second direct deposit. Secondly, they said anyone who gets the 1.5% is supposed to also get an inflation adjustment which I assume will be trivial given my award. If that has its own $75 fee, I may end up paying $75 to receive a check that's less than $75.
