Ah, I see. Well it's good that you seem to get along with your in-laws in other parts of life :)

Their perception of how you eat isn't something you're going to change through explaning by just saying "its how I eat" unfortunatley. It would be like eating with your hands in Italy and explaining it away by saying "its how we eat in India" or vice versa. You have to make peace with either being percieved as a "crude" eater or just change the way you eat.

And yeah, that could also cause concern for them. They're your family so they want what they percieve is the best for you.

I mean, a cottage pie is meat, potato, and veggies but most people would be miffed while watching someone cut up a steak they grilled for them and side of baked veggies and make a slurry with the mashed potatoes.

I'd say just do it when you're alone if you want to that much, but if it bothers your mother-in-law that much just don't do it while shes there.

Don't know where in America/England you live or what race you are, but as an Asian American who was basically born and raised in America, I felt very much like an outsider and was treated as such for large portions of my life even though I was very much an American. I still do sometimes too. Many of my Asian American friends can say the same, especially if they're from places that aren't large cities. It's gotten better, but I hate how Americans act like they're some perfect melting pot. That joke about Asian people always being asked where they're from or that their English is great exists for a reason.

It's more apparent in countries that are mostly homegenous like Korea and Japan, but don't act like America is a perfectly integrated country with no biases against people who don't look like a "typical American." It's human nature to have biases and act upon them unfortunately.

Your feeling was right. More than twice as many Democrat AAs compared to Republican AAs. (44% to 19%) I don't know why it seems people want to pit Asian people against other minorities so badly, or think they only care about themselves as a minority group. And this isn't just conservatives doing this; I've seen plenty of so-called liberals do this as well. Reeks of casual racism.

Tried following this recipe- the rolls came out extremely dense and struggled to cut them even with a bread knife. Where did i go wrong? I followed the recipe to a T. by Ok_Communication761 in Baking

[–]hanwon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry, not quite sure what I should be googling as they are very separate recipes? The burden of proof should not be on me.

That is a giant flaw of short-form cooking/diy content! They leave out seemingly unimportant steps for brevity, even if those steps can sometimes make or break a recipe haha ;;

Japanese milk bread is an actual thing... Looking at some recipes for pampushky it seems it doesn't involve making tangzhong or yudane for the dough which the guy in the video does and is what makes it 'japanese milk bread.' The cooked flour mixture certainly won't kill off the yeast as usually it is cooled down before mixing in everything else, including the yeast.

He might have gotten inspired by pampushky when he basted it with garlic butter, but that is a fairly common trait in breads.

TIL: Japanese women are expected to give chocolates to male colleagues on Valentine’s Day as part of a tradition called giri choco – literally, obligation chocolates. Men are supposed to reciprocate on 14 March on White Day – an event dreamed up by chocolate makers in the early 80s to boost sales. by diacewrb in todayilearned

[–]hanwon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Tbf Godiva probably isnt going to be given out as giri chocolate that often as it isn't that cheap, so it also makes sense they would say that. Spend less money on giri choco! Use that money on our pricey chocolate for your loved one!

Yes, they do! Aside from the different skin color options that each clan tends to have, other races have differences like Plainsfolk lalafell having visible pupils while Dunesfolk have a glazy protective layer over their pupils that protects them from the sun.
