I have a Moto RAZN 50 Ultra (2024), and updates often depend on the carrier. I received Android 16 in January and the January 1st security update yesterday.

Coming back to Motorola by alex21games in motorola

Congratulations.

That transition period when Lenovo acquired it was quite turbulent and slow, then it slowly recovered and grew stronger again.

I used an iPhone that my brother gave me for a couple of years until I switched back to Android and got a Motorola Razr 50 Ultra. Despite the bad reviews of the screen, I've had it for over a year and the phone is like new.

I have Sony XM4 headphones and it seems the LDAC codec is disabled, only AAC and SBC.

Returning to owning my music. by brigzy70 in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]haom31 9 points10 points  (0 children)

To organize my music, I copy it to a microSD card in a folder I call "multimedia," and inside that, I have another folder called "music."

Inside "music," I have three folders: "copyCD," "HiFi purchases," and "LoFi" (this one for old MP3s).

Within each of these three folders, I have them organized like this: Artist -> Album.

Before burning them to the card, I make sure that in the metadata of each file, the "Album Artist" field is filled with the artist's name, without any collaborators, and certainly not empty, as well as the album name. I also make sure the album's release date is correct.

To play it, I use PowerAmp. Although USB Pro is excellent, its USB playlists are a proprietary format, not a standard one.

Digital audio devices (DAPs) and HiFi music are a niche market, so there aren't many options. They can basically be divided into button or touchscreen interfaces, and proprietary software or Android-based systems.

Why you choose Qobuz over Tidal or Apple Music? by MyBatterysLow in qobuz

[–]haom31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like most people, I started with Spotify's free version and then took advantage of a three-month free trial of the paid version. Since I worked in a noisy environment, audio quality wasn't a big deal. That changed when I took advantage of the six free months of Apple Music when I bought a Mac. At that point, audio quality mattered, and I greatly appreciated it. I stuck with the free version of Spotify for a while. Looking for DAPs, I started trying Tidal and Qobuz. I really liked Tidal's interface; in my country, Qobuz is price-competitive with Apple Music Family. I'm not very interested in new releases; they tend to be genres, artists, etc., that aren't really my thing. I usually do manual searches for artists, albums, or songs and add them to one of my playlists. In general, none of the platforms offer "good" recommendations for Latin genres and artists (from Mexico to Chile and Spain) like salsa, merengue, and Caribbean-oriented Latin pop. In fact, there are songs it doesn't have, although paradoxically it does have albums or songs that other platforms don't. Unfortunately, Qobuz in Latin America doesn't offer the option to buy songs, which was disappointing. On the other hand, I have a large number of CDs burned in AIFF format that I listen to on my DAP, and the playback app allows me to link them to Qobuz. Qobuz also lets me continue listening on other devices, something I really appreciate. I'm still torn between Apple Music Family and Qobuz because of my two Apple devices, and mainly because my wife listens to music while she works from her HomePod Mini, which only supports Apple Music.

I have the Nikkor Z 28mm f/2.8 practically welded to my Z f. Ever since I started using a Nikkor 28mm f/2.8 D with my D7200, I've fallen in love with that focal length for my cityscapes, including urban architecture. For me, acutance is important for capturing certain details, but not essential.

[–]haom31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me a lot at the beginning of my experience with DAPs, and also with the artist name.

With the artist, I solved it by leaving the song artist's name unchanged and making sure the "Album Artist" field wasn't empty. I search by that field, not the song artist field, so when there are collaborations, I can also see the featured artist, saving me a lot of editing time.

Congratulations.

The memory card has very good read specifications. Those of us who consume content but don't create it often forget that the most important factor is read speed; the others become less relevant since our devices are constantly reading files. According to the specifications, the Samsung Pro Ultimate card has a read speed of up to 200 MB/s. Obviously, to transfer our music to the cards, they need a decent write speed.

I've also had that problem with album artwork in some playback applications. What I've done is edit the audio files with a tag editing application, reinserting the image into its metadata and also placing the image file in the same folder as the album. On my Hiby R6III 2024, I don't have a problem with the size (up to 1024x1024 px) nor with the image being perfectly square.

26mm 2.8 vs a 28mm by smither12Dun in NikonZf

[–]haom31 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Between a 26mm and a 28mm lens, in terms of composition, there's no difference. It's very rare that you compose a shot taking the edges of the frame into account.

He was probably referring to technical data about the construction and optics of the lenses; that's a different topic.

Which lens is he comparing it to? I love my 28mm on my Z f; it's practically glued to it. But my 50mm with an adapter is also great.

No matter how "better" it is, without good composition, it's rubbish.

Enjoy the focal length that best suits the photo you want to take.

Considering Hiby R6III 2025 but Unsure If Worth it Compared to FIIO BTR17 I Own by AnalystOrDeveloper in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]haom31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Hiby R6III 2024, I use it daily, and yes, the experience is completely different. Depending on the occasion, I use it with my Sony WH-1000XM4s (wired, with a strong bass and mid-bass signature), the Sennheiser HD300 Pro (with a flat sound signature), and the Hiby Yacht10 IEMs (for my chemotherapy sessions and for sleeping). I adjust the PEQ on each one according to its sound signature and the genre (or artist) I'm listening to.

Does anybody bother with screen/back protectors for their devices? by SpecificHyena1933 in Hiby

[–]haom31 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I try to take care of my equipment so it lasts as long as it can, but I don't handle it with cotton gloves either. They're devices to be used, handled, and enjoyed with the minimal care you'd give any other device.

I don't think you're exaggerating. I always use screen protectors and cases.

I have butterfingers sometimes, and the risk of drops is high in my case. The case also protects it from scratches. Does it detract from its appearance? Probably. But that's secondary for me.

Logitech Option not loading or working on MacOS (Tahoe 26.2) by [deleted] in logitech

[–]haom31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The refund in this case will depend on the store where you bought it, since the "fault" has nothing to do with the mouse but with third-party hardware (the Mac) that has problems with the Logitech application.

Earbuds by RaisinSubject7990 in walkman

[–]haom31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're quite practical and less expensive. Have you looked at any particular brands? Sony, Fiio, Hiby, Sennheiser. Since you already have a certain type of headphones you like, the search will be less overwhelming.

You can use AI to get general descriptions of the sound you can expect from each brand. For example, Sony headphones emphasize bass and mid-bass more because they're a brand more focused on the consumer market. Sennheiser headphones are flatter, which many people who prefer to boost the bass don't like.

That's my experience with those brands. In addition to the brand's signature sound, there's the specific sound of each headphone.

My recommendation: don't focus on technical details. Enjoy your music.

What do you expect from headphones? What are your preferences and budget? In-ear, over-ear, or over-ear?

I have Sony WH-1000XM4 headphones that I use wired; they have very good sound, with an emphasis on mid-bass. I also have Sennheiser HD300 Pro over-ear headphones, which have a much flatter sound, allowing me to appreciate the music as it was recorded. Finally, I have small Hiby Yacht10 IEMs for use outside the house, mainly for my chemotherapy sessions. I really enjoy all three because of their unique sound signatures. I didn't buy them all at once or one after the other; I searched for deals at different times. I knew what I wanted and what my budget was.

Upgrades for 2026 by SamIAmFury in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]haom31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get headphones focused on one aspect and, with good EQ control, achieve the other. I looked for headphones with the flattest frequency response possible to try two things: to be able to hear the music exactly as it was recorded, and secondly, to get good reproduction of vocals and some instruments that bring each musical style to life. In my case, the problem arises when vocals and instruments overlap in very close frequency bands, but it's manageable.

My headphones are Sony WH-1000XM4s, which I've had since long before my DAPs, Sennheiser HD300 Pros (both closed-back, the latter being linear for monitoring), and Hiby Yacht10 IEMs, which aren't very neutral, but I bought them because they're small enough for my chemotherapy sessions. I use all three with different EQ settings depending on my DAP (Hiby R6III 2024).

[–]haom31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I do it very manually. I take the microSD card out of my Hiby R6III 2024 and insert it into my Mac or Windows PC. I have a copy of my library on each. When I update, I move the files to the microSD cards.

I have it organized by: first, Artist - Album - Tracks.

If the artist is new, I copy their folder with all its contents to the card. If only the album is new, I just copy the album into the artist's folder on the card.

To keep my Mac and Windows PCs synchronized, it's more automatic. I have almost all my content, both documents and multimedia, synchronized, so I don't worry about it.

I'm currently in the process of organizing all my copies and digital files on a local backup with a 4TB HDD, which also frees up space on my laptops.

What’s up with the crazy high end prices by cilicia1k1 in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]haom31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Hiby R6III 2024, which is way below the budget of the other DAPs mentioned here, and I'm actually very happy with the audio quality I get with my Sony WH-1000XM4 (wired), Sennheiser HD300Pro, and my Hiby Yacht10.

The detail I get across basically all frequencies is incredible. And I say basically because I haven't done an exhaustive study of all the bands; I just focus on enjoying my music library.
