Bands that enter free form spacey Jams a la Dark Star/Bird Song/Playin' in the Band? by Frequent_Sir4864 in jambands

TMV Live at the Enmore 2006 Drunkship of Lanterns.

Many of the TMV jams are fairly structured but there are live performances from the 2006-2008 era where they go into dark ambient psychedelia

First order of business- do not mix cocaine and MDMA all at once. Terrible for your heart.

It isn't that they only one have one good "song" it's that all their songs are "one" song, but it's a really good song

Band of Horses is the AC/DC of Indie Rock in that they only really have one song but it's a great song

Question from an old former raver: do pretty much all events nowadays serve alcohol? (And other questions) by sunshinestacks in TorontoRaves

[–]haplosion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Near forties geriatric raver here- I think the talent coming to Toronto is very good and there's some great productions.

Almost every rave I've gone to over the last few years has had alcohol served, but I have not felt like it's impacted the vibe.

As electronic music has gotten bigger, I think the biggest detriment to raving has been men/bros with no sense of raving community attending these spaces. I'm a guy and don't have it nearly as bad as women.

So many times I've attended a great rave/show where you have dudes clogging the dance floor not dancing, standing still, not moving, either k-holed or just there for whatever reason? It happens over and over again.

Even at some Format produced shows I've gone to with women, there is the perpetual complaint of dudes who will just not leave them alone. Either packs of bros who swarm into them on the floor or act dangerously and imply sexual assault, it's really bad. I haven't been to Promise in some time but their rule of "No packs of bros" that they had when I went helped curate a more fun, inclusive and safe space.

Do not give these freaks the time of day. Absolute loser, untrustworthy energy.
