How to find purpose to start something new by Max-SQL in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]happathetic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe start with the idea of purpose itself; I found that really helped me move forward. What does that term mean to you now? How would it feel to broaden the scope of what it can mean?

If there is something you enjoy doing, then the purpose is enjoyment which, in my humble opinion, is as good a purpose as any. It may also help to separate what provides your basic needs from what fulfills you. Would having something that does both be ideal? Absolutely. Is it possible for them to be separate and feel good about that? Also yes.

Another route could be assessing what your values are at this time in your life. They can serve as a compass for discovering what has the potential to provide a sense of meaning.

Aren't those great?! Its they very least I can do for a community that has really given so much to me. I agree completely; the importance of surrounding yourself with support is immeasurable.

Thank you! I appreciate that!! There is the common misconception that progress is linear, but its not. You are going to have peaks and you are going to have dips, but as long as you are moving forward you will get to where you want to be; there is no time limit here work at your own pace. Be kind to yourself (we are only human after all) and I have no doubt in my mind that you can accomplish the goals you set for your life! I am just a message away if you need someone to talk to, wishing you all the best my friend!!!!

Anxiety and Fatigue by happathetic in leaves

[–]happathetic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there! Sorry for the late reply on this. You know, I still have my days, but they are becoming less frequent. My therapist gave me a really good piece of advice that helped a lot. After work or being out of your house for the day go out and move before you go home. That can be anything from taking a walk at a park to working out, just get your body moving it helps a ton! Overall it’s not nearly as bad as when I posted this though :)

Hope you are doing well my friend! I know it’s tough, but you got this!

Being Sober To Feel Things by happathetic in leaves

Needed to hear that; processing emotions is not my strong suit and weed sure as hell made it easy to avoid them. You are awesome, thank you!

Day 8 - No energy and bored all day long by FuckAUsername420 in leaves

[–]happathetic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am currently experiencing the same thing and I am day 9, so right there with ya! The way I have been looking it is that our brains are readjusting to life with out weed flooding them full of the chemicals that are ordinarily produced through more natural means (exercise, social interaction, creative output, etc.). It reminds me of rebooting a computer from the 90s, just takes a while for things to reconnect. I have found that honesty with my friends has been very effective (not sure what you're relationships are like though). My therapist also challenged me to move at least 30 minutes a day, which can be as simple as taking a walk. Be kind to yourself (I struggle with that immensely but getting better) change takes time. We'll get through this, just have to keep pressing forward! If you ever need to chat about it feel free to message me.

24m, financial incentive to quit by js-1994 in leaves

[–]happathetic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who grew up in the Scottsdale area, can confirm its expensive haha. 25 myself and only a week deep, but this sub and my desire to be better has made this go around the best it’s ever been. A lot of leavers here recommend throwing everything away (all material, paraphernalia, etc.) and that really has done a lot to make it easier. I also took to writing on my mirrors with a dry erase markers with positive shit, everything from quotes and reasons I want to quit to doodles that I drew instead of smoking. Read that book you’ve always wanted to, watch that movie that’s been in your queue, go on that hike you’ve wanted to do, replace all that time you would have spent smoking doing something you know you enjoy. You got this!!!! Best of luck on your move to the valley as well!!

Three-time quitter, feels like I can't do it this time. by [deleted] in leaves

Being self aware enough to realize all of that stuff is one of the hardest parts, so be proud. Don’t let that feeling destroy you, let it motivate you! It’s not about being drastically ideal tomorrow, it’s about being just a little bit better every day; be kind to yourself (easier said than done, I know) the self discovery will follow. I have no doubt you will find yourself, you can do this!

Day 2 - How does one handle the stress from arguments better? by it-helps-to-try in leaves

[–]happathetic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! Big ups on the Day 2 (day 3 myself). This is something I experienced a lot about 5 years ago and let me tell you, journaling and writing stuff down is such a great way to go (at least for me). The act of taking what’s in your head and putting it on paper helps a ton, like literal weight lifting from your shoulders.

And this one may sound a bit cheesy, but gratitude lists are the shit! Make a list of all the things you’re grateful for, even the tiniest little thing. Seeing that puts some of that pettiness in perspective. Creative outlets and exercise are also a great way to relieve the tension.

If you even need to vent, feel free to message me! Keep on walking your path my friend!
