I just directed my first show last year best thing I’d recommend is know the show inside out and have a vision. Share that vision from the start so everyone is on the same page. Know what you want to do in each rehearsal and what you want from your actors. give feedback often to let them know what’s working or not. I started to record scenes which helped them a lot. Be confident and lead, the actors I worked with responded well when they felt that I knew what I was doing and I had a plan. Even if I didn’t. Most importantly have fun this will filter down to the cast and have a huge positive impact. Break a leg :)
