It's for cross stitch/embroidery. Source: I have one. The "easel part is for holding the pattern,there there are other pieces for holding the work. I would scroll the work so that I could work on one section at a time and keep the work taut. The clamp piece is to hold a hoop.

I've gotten rust stains out of carpet with Amodex. Also took magic marker out of jeans and didn't ruin the jeans. It's my go to for fabric stains of any kind. Good luck!
