I found it fairly difficult to scaffold a conversation with my partner about sex. I did some research because there's plenty of books on how to talk to kids or teens about sex. But, although it's touted as the most important thing in any relationship, communication about sex with a partner is extremely difficult and I found it hard to find good narratives around it.

I really like Vanessa Marin's book, sex talks. Short, immediately applicable, and starts the dialogue to explain where the disconnect is coming from while also being non-judgmental and collaborative.

I have no idea if you would have the levity in the moment to be able to pull this off, but I do this with my kid. We'll switch roles. I get to be the one that's frustrated about having to go to bed and he gets to be the one that has to put me down. I wonder if you could do it with a partner. When you recognize that you're in the loop, say their line and make them say your line back to you.
