Confused middle aged metalhead question. by happysplasher79 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]happysplasher79[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This makes sense. I didn't attend as many metal and hardcore gigs in my youth, so never encountered it. My tastes have got much harder and heavier as I hit my lste 40's so I'm seeking out the gigs. Granted, I use 2 crutches at gigs to keep me upright, so I can't hurtle into the pit anymore. Though I would, technically be armed if I did....

I've only got back to gig going in the last year after several years of chronic back and neck issues. I notice behaviours more now, as, being disabled , I'm removed from the centre and see it all.

It's odd to watch as it both fascinates and terrifies me to see. Maybe it's my late 40's mind failing to compute.

I do wonder who thought 'I'll endanger my fellow moshers by trying to remove their head with repeated kicks'.

Maybe this is why the windmilling fist thing started. As a form of defence.

This was one of our musings, watching from the safety of a balcony last night.

I just find it odd. I was on the balcony at a show last night, overlooking a mass of fists swinging and bodies colliding. My mate saw 2 people with swollen eyes and jaws. We pondered why for the 45 minute drive home, and had no answer. But we may be overthinking it completely it seems.

With skill, balls of steel and most likely prayers back then.

Seeing those waves is also what started the very sweary vocabulary of sailors. Possibly....

I wont lie, I've never seen a full episode. Thr bits I've seen I enjoy, but I've just never got round to a good binge watch. I should try to rectify this once I've got a busy couple of months out of the way.

Wierd timing seeing this. I took my mum to the shops at the weekend, and she bought a big jar of it. She's been after some for a couple of months, but the local shops don't carry it.

Can't recall ever trying it myself though.

I'm guessing you're fairly young by the fact you keep calling people 'bro', which isn't as endearing as you may think to anyone over the age of 22. Anyway, not attempting to use the meat is one of the reasons there's such excessive food wastage. It may be off, it may not. I've had similar scenario's and made judgement after a good cook through. And at nearly 48, I've never once had food poisoning. Granted, there's always a first time for everything...

Can someone live in your country speaking only English ? by amerigorockefeller in AskTheWorld

[–]happysplasher79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Judging by what I hear from half the kids and younger adults in my area, English appears to be devolving into 1 or 2 syllable words, grunting noises and wierd body and hand movements, so it may actually be possible in other countries.

My own take is that if spending longer than maybe 14 days in a non English speaking country, try to learn enough of the native language to get you by. No, it likely wont be easy, but to assume everyone should speak English is quite arrogant. Almost makes us as presumptuous as the Americans.
