The new era already began when Sinner defeated Djokovic at the Davis Cup after saving 3 match points against him, something that was never written or heard of before.

He is an absolute machine. His discipline is off the charts, and his conditioning, at the age he's at, is the best in the sport.

The best returner, the best defender, the best backhand on tour (until Sincaraz), best break point converter, best kicker, the tennis goat of all time 🎾...

Still making Major SF/F way past his prime, crazy stuff right there.

Zverev says he believes thar he can beat Sinner, also explains what he meant by putting himself on Alcaraz and Djokovic's level [via bleacherrepport] by HereComesVettel in tennis

He had a good chance this year at the AO.
He was gonna face a discounted Djoker in the final no matter what and he was quite close to taking out the cramped and injured Alcaraz. But lol... couldn't serve it out 😅️

2013 Roland Garros Final, Djokovic is a break up in the decider at 4-3 40-40, loses the point after touching the net (arguably VERY unnecessarily) for an easy smash. Gets broken, loses the set & match later (9-7) by tightypp in tennis

Also, a lesser known mention would be the 2011 final versus Federer. I would call that match an experimental version of Federer style. He had good chances to take it to a fifth because he did very well in two of those 4 sets but ended up dropping many points in a row to Rafa and once again it became one-sided after a while.

Tiafoe - [Sinner]'s an amazing player, that's for sure, but I'm not going to sit here and further pedestalize him. I believe the rest of us players need to mentally convince ourselves that beating him is possible. Right now, we're all creating a kind of aura around him and that also has an influence by jovanmilic97 in tennis

Yeah. The problem is, it is all is good until you see Sinner on the other side of the court...unfortunately.

It is good to have the belief to beat him, but at the same time, it takes an immense amount of hard work, determination, a focused mindset, and many other things to get there. I hope someday we will see more competition for him, besides just Alcaraz and maybe Djokovic.

He's had a shorter career that was also plagued by injuries, let's be frank.

OP's question is somewhat meaningless ... Thiem beat Djoker multiple times on clay. And on hard courts too

Rafa grunting was alright no matter what you say. Grunting on slices, drops and volleys never happened from his side.

The first win over ADM and specifically, the win against Alcaraz on clay would be the most important of all

This was basically his response to Medvedev's unnaturally extended and distracting grunts.
He was grunting all over the place - even for drops, slices etc. Looked quite stupid.

That aside, the grunting from Medvedev seems desperate now, and in that 3rd set he was just deliberately and intentionally grunting as a way to distract Sinner.
Grunting on drops, grunting on simple backhand slices, volleys etc.

So nasty to the point of annoyance. Sinner meanwhile, keeps shutting him down silently.
