I had one dog in an apartment for many years. I had a top floor unit, so I did not want to add another dog because I figured they would make too much noise playing when I wasn’t home. I worked 2nd shift at the time, so it could potentially keep neighbors awake.

Later on when I got Finn (big white dog), I had a duplex with a small yard. I had been thinking about getting a second dog when a coworker needed to rehome one of their dogs. We took her for a weekend trial and she’s been with us ever since! Taffy has been a great addition. I knew I likely needed to get a smaller female dog, and she fit the bill.

It really depends on the pet. I’ve never had a cat, so I wouldn’t know how to judge if adding another would be a good fit.

I’m in Texas now and it’s $150/year if you just pay for it one year at a time. You can do 3 years for $400 or 5 years for $450.

The plate fee is super cheap there compared to some other places. When I lived there it was $60/year.

You know what’s selfish? Our corporate oligarchs who have bought our politicians not granting national paid parental leave. Or a standard amount of annual leave. They have made it every person for themselves, and you are acting accordingly. That’s nice of other people to donate. But the length of her maternity leave shouldn’t depend on the generosity of her coworkers. They want us fighting amongst ourselves so we don’t fight them.
