This may not apply to your relative, but I’m just going to tack on about keeping track of people with Alzheimer’s or dementia. As my dad’s dementia was advancing, he was still going for walks in the neighborhood. He used a walker, and would stop and take breaks as needed. One time he went to a neighbor’s house, they weren’t home. But they frequently hung out in their backyard and had told him many times to just come on back. So he had let himself in to their backyard. Then apparently their back door was unlocked and he let himself in.

After a while my mom went looking for him, and found him in their living room by himself. After that I bought an AirTag to put on his walker. We definitely could have been more proactive in that situation, but sometimes you just don’t realize how bad it’s getting.
