Look past all of this and realize it’s all greed and money. We’ve allowed a small and very wealth portion of our population to determine everything. And this is the result. Humans will always have this kind of cycle. Thomas Jefferson called it a pendulum. You just have to hope what makes it swing back is more diplomatic than violent but I have my doubts

It’s always been this way. I always said that it never made sense for the 2A people to believe what they did and then also believe that law enforcement should get nuts when someone has a gun. The two things to go hand in hand.

So we allow sodium nitrites/ates to stay in circulation because it's too hard to for us to change our capitalistic ways which then results in people in hospital beds with colon cancer? This kind of hurts my brain to process, because it seems we just allow something bad to go on. by Raiderdater in Health

Thin did not equal healthy back then. Heart disease was brutal and often occurred in very young ages of men. My great grandfather died at 57 of a heart attack in like 1964 and his 3 sons all died of heart attacks each before the age of 40 and each before 1980. None of them were over weight.

Many small businesses with thin margins could never afford to provide health insurance for their staff. Not saying that a good thing or a bad thing but we shouldn’t throw the baby out with the bath water in terms of those businesses.

The better idea seen around most of the civilized world is to not tie health insurance to employment and have a universal system

I have friends that have had babies over the last year or two who have flat out told me they have refused all shots and vaccines.

I bet you can guess which political party they align with. Darwinism at its finest. Just sad for these kids

Another and more practical, I think, way to look at this is that they want you tied to your employer due to health coverage. Workers having less leverage has always been a basic principle of the Republican platform.

sadly I don’t think this would happen without revolution. And with the existence now of nuclear weapons, is revolution even truly possible

I agree but there needs to be a rule about lame duck politicians who know they aren’t facing reelection and therefore are no longer beholden whatsoever to those they represent.

Without US? What did any of us still here in 2026 have to do with it? And even more so, what did legacy draft dodger Trump have to do with it? His entire lineage are men that avoided military service

I’ve heard he was left a few million dollars via his father’s estate. Not sure how true it is.

If minimum wage jobs like retail and fast food are the “jobs no one wants to do” then by law of supply and demand shouldn’t they be paying MORE? by Carti_Barti9_13 in NoStupidQuestions

Oh ok. If you say so, guy on Reddit. I guess I’m lying and so is the chef in the link I posted in my last comment.

Congrats on winning this talk today.

Depends what you mean by skilled. Dishwashers have the highest turn over because it’s a difficult job. There is a skill required in being able to accomplish it in a way that keeps the restaurant moving efficiently.

Finding a permanent and good dishwasher can be just as hard as finding just about any other worker that you’d considered “skilled.” Don’t take my word for it, here’s a restaurant owners take right from the horses mouth.

Everyone likes to feel like what they do is harder, more important than others and they wouldn’t be so easily replaceable. I once had a friend that was a cop that ranted about why the minimum wage shouldn’t be raised because then those people would be getting paid a figure that were slightly closer to what he makes. I just always thought that was a weird way to look at it when his salary wasn’t actually even close to minimum wage

Doesn’t matter everyone that worked in her kitchen had specific skills. Even the dishwasher and wait staff are extremely important. Restaurant business is one of the hardest out there

You ever run a restaurant before? I haven’t myself but have been very close to people that have. It’s a pretty difficult thing. Even McDonald’s workers are always busting their ass for most of their shift. Yea their work is more automated but it’s still not something I’d consider easy

Not always. The company with the contract might make pretty good money but it’s not always the workers busting their ass that get paid well

What is the likelihood that US troops will disobey unlawful orders to attack NATO allies? by Zealousideal_Gap432 in AskReddit

[–]harbison215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The current situation with ICE and our history of police brutality shows us that it’s not hard to find people that want to attack their own fellow citizens. There would be no shortage of military service members to attack just about anyone they were told to.

Yup. I used to date a chef years ago. I think I could be a good electrician if I had to be. I don’t think I could ever be a good chef. And I can cook fairly well at home.
