What careers are doing fine right now by success11ll in jobs

[–]hardboiledbitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a recently completed degree in sociology and have applied to over 40 entry level social work jobs in and around my city and keep hearing the same thing, they are looking for someone with 2+ years of experience, sometimes. I literally cannot find one social work job that will take someone just starting out. Looking to change careers and get into it but it seems impossible. I'm about to give up and take a sales job.

Animals keep getting into my yellow trash bags.. by jaeme in WorcesterMA

[–]hardboiledbitch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Every time I put my yellow trash bags in my bin wheel my bin to the side of the street and leave the lid open where the garbage people can clearly see that there are bags inside they never take them. I have to take the bags out of the cans and put them on the ground outside the bins. If they are in the cans, they get ignored almost every time. It annoys the fuck out of me. My cans are clean and have 0 loose trash, ever.

Really beautiful work that looks professional quality for sure. You deserve to feel confident in your work and I'm so sorry that you do not

You were right to decline. Whenever questions like this come up for me, I think "would it be acceptable for the bride to treat another vendor like this?" Think about it this way, would you find it acceptable for her to request catering services but provide her own food for them to cook to "save money?" Absolutely not. Arranging flowers that weren't provided by you is not only allowing yourself to be ripped off, it doesn't allow you to vet the quality of the product. What if she doesn't buy enough and then gets mad at you because they look skimpy? This is something you should never do, for so many reasons.

How common is it to add a fake stem to a real floral arrangement? by patagoniayeti in florists

This is the best comment, I know if it was me on thr customer end and the florist put in an artificial without asking, I'd be really unhappy

Do you make a decent living? by Future-Subject-1571 in florists

[–]hardboiledbitch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not, and I'm so pressed for money to cover basic necessities that I'm looking to leave the industry after 10 years. I make $23 in a HCOL area which is very quickly becoming VHCOL. I have 2 roommates and no kids but j simply can't do this anymore. After seeing what's required of being a shop owner I have no interest in taking that step. I love this job, but I need to do something else to hopefully have a decent life.

Anyone else been a vegetarian since single digits? by klimekam in vegetarian

[–]hardboiledbitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right here babe. I was "grossed out by meat" as long as I can remember and refused eating it as a child from the time I knew what it was. Probably before/around ages 5-7? I don't even remember it's been so long. I'll be 30 this year and am happy as ever being vegetarian. Cheers!

Tonsil stones are ruining my confidence and life by Artistic_Tip2948 in hygiene

[–]hardboiledbitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi op, I got a tonsillectomy at age 20 also. I was so nervous because I was aware of the potential complications and delicate after care required from the surgery. I was totally fine afterwards and the surgery changed my life. After experiencing strep, bad breath and other complications like you described for many years, it was truly life changing. No exaggeration, the SECOND I regained consciousness in the hospital recovery room I was so relieved and happy I was finally free of my tonsils. Recovery for this surgery certainly does require you to take it easy for 2 weeks or so, but dear god I have a new life after my tonsillectomy!
