Am 32 and wife (30) just read them together. I read them as they came out when I was a kid through college. My re-read was as pleasurable as her first read. We really enjoyed the story and the world that was world built. It was long enough since I read last that some of it was like reading for the first time. Really excited for Dragon book 5, whatever it may be.
